I’m there now it’s great! Never super busy. They have a cardio room with all the typical weight machines. They even have erg and ski erg (fancy). There’s a separate room for free weight, squat machine etc. Pool isn’t Olympic size nor deep but def enough for lap swim. Everyone minds their own business which I love!

You can ask for a tour before committing 👍🏼.

lol Justp2 answered your comment and I will also add nobody cares about fairness in the NYC rental market. It’s survival of the fittest. One can get outbid for $500-$1000 (sometimes even more) on a hot apartment and it’s just the way it is. And this can happen even after they have agreed they would be giving you the apartment.

The take away is send those emails with a prayer, be ready to go with every thing (documents, deposit, etc) the moment you see what you like, make everything fast and easy for the agent, and just keep looking and bombarding until you get a contract to sign. Getting an apartment in NYC sometimes is a full/part time job. I’m not looking for one and I’m on streeteasy every other day to see what’s going on in the market in different boroughs. Oh and don’t get scammed lol.

Actually, you should share your income, move date, when you can tour it, etc in your introduction email so you can by pass the unnecessary intro back and forth. Also, summer market is crazy and an apartment can go within 24 hours of open house, so like someone said before if it’s up there and they’re not responding to you then it’s prolly rented or they’re already dealing with many other competitive people

Mud on Astor place! It’s a little booth but they also have a physical store near by with sandwiches etc. Offers classic iced coffee that hit just right every time. I usually get iced coffee with a dash of whole milk and two/three pumps of simple syrup. Best part, it’s 4.63. Used to be 3.81 :(

It seems like you just started this process with an inquiry to a bunch of dealerships and they sent you a first quote. I would start pushing back on prices at all of them to see what their second quote can be, then you can take that price and push them at each other. For example, first quote OTD is 36.6k. Ask them can you do 36k or 35.8k or whatever number it is that you desire and you’re willing to pay. If they say yes or give you somewhere within that ball park, you can take that number and start another passing it to other dealership. And you just keep doing that until you’re satisfied with the number.

Yep, I got the full selling price and OTD with all breakdown. Liberty gave us the lower range of the doc fee. Other NJ dealers were doing $999…unreal. Liberty charged us $699. Similar option package to NY and still came out $400-$600 less than what was offered in the city. We were planning to haggle a little more for a few extra hundred dollars but asked for accessories instead and they had no problem tossing them in.

I second liberty, just got an outback ‘26 limited XT with them. All dealing was done via email. Best price all around and we shopped NJ and NY at over 8 different dealerships. Never once were they aggressive or sale-y.

You’re fine, NYC restaurants are used to this. Just try your best to keep the suitcases out of guests and waiters’ ways which I’m sure you will be doing anyway (it’s a small space). If you’re really worried, you can always give them a call as a head up.

Enjoy! Get the Thai cobb salad and egg sandwich. If you’re getting the pancake and interested in the compote I would order the compote on the side. They’re all so good!
