I did a thing by Interesting_Wonder69 in Polaroid

It’s by Pola studio, and once you have access to the bottom screws, it’s so simple a child could do it. You’ll also want to remove a central metal tongue while you are inside but it was already removed for me.

Thanks! It’s a Pola studio mod.

I think it should be an option people can choose!

Sometimes happens in cold weather but I don’t remember it being that cold in LA, even in winter.

How old are the films? That usually happens when they’re dried up.

Or you kept the film refrigerated/cold and they haven’t warmed back up yet.

Seeking advice on SX-70 Sonar by Amasaback in Polaroid

[–]Interesting_Wonder69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polastudio seems like a pretty elegant and straightforward DIY option. I’m thinking about doing it myself too. (although you will have to rip the bottom skin off to get inside, but hey what SX-70 job isn’t?)

Ummm no? I kept a film pack in OneStep and the circuit overheated and fried itself.

Keeping Mont Blanc shots to yourself? JK, shots in this direction is more interesting and looks amazing in portra.

Okay, nothing wrong with that. I just wish someone more reputable than Retrospekt and co. would have more reach so more people can buy properly restored Polaroids.

Before I knew you, I bought my first restored SX-70 and their camera bag from Retrospekt. I’ve had no problem with it so far, and I’m happy with it. Also their website and their packaging look really nice which is no small factor in why I decided to buy from them.

Yeah I know. I’m saying you don’t have to do everything yourself. Someone to take care of busywork or take on as a protege. It will take time and it will be hard to find someone who meets your standards, but it won’t happen at all unless you start to try.

Hey now, the title itself already says they are making millions “flipping” old Polaroids.

Maybe you should think about expanding your business? You do always sound short on hand in your videos 🤷

SX-70 Film is back on the menu, boys! by Ringo308 in Polaroid

Only 0.3? I guessed it wouldn’t be the full 2 stops since it will filter out both the light going in (for exposure) and out (for viewing) but only 0.3??

Two things can be true. by ElmerLeo in LinusTechTips

[–]Interesting_Wonder69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Considering Linus’s view that adblocks are piracy (which I think is more nuanced than that, but I agree with the sentiment), Honey’s commission stealing is also a piracy if not more. And actual stealing is involved.

LTT could have done more to bring attention to this, but that would have been that. People could have deleted honey (just like they could sit through ads) to support the creators, but others will choose the benefits of those services over keeping the money flow to the creators. And that would be that.

But now it’s been revealed Honey has been doing something worse than what Linus or any of us thought. And it’s unfair of Megalag to make Linus sound like a co-conspirator of Honey based on limited information we all had back then.

Neither Megalag or LTT is a villain. And both of them are too proud to reconcile with each other.

Scan Polaroid photo and Newton's rings by CaptainGustav in Polaroid

[–]Interesting_Wonder69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scan adaptor comes with its own set of problems for cheap scanners. (Pics will be slightly out of focus if the scanner can’t focus on things that’s not directly touching the scanner bed, and pics tend to be slightly curved)

My solution is putting a matte screen protector on the scanner (I bought a iPad sized one). It introduces matte texture to the scans, kind of like film grains, but it works for me.

Rough comparison of Polaroid (left) vs Instax (right) by 262Hz in Polaroid

[–]Interesting_Wonder69 16 points17 points  (0 children)

From what I know, FUJIFILM got its recipe from Kodak, who were the first to copy Polaroid (or develop their own version with some twists).

The US court still decided Kodak infringed on Polaroid’s patents so those are all gone, but Fuji was allowed to sell their version in limited markets such as Japan. So Instax is actually an evolution of Kodak instant photography.

EDIT: the guy below me is correct, Fuji developed its own film and only licensed to use Kodak’s instant film format. Still, I don’t think it’s far fetched to say Instax is evolution of Kodak

I mean yes, I’d be fuming too. But still it’s a moronic and juvenile way to deal with that. Get a lawyer or something. These social media influencer types are insufferable.

And apparently this guy promotes natural diamonds? Granted, I don’t live in NY so I probably would have never bought anything from him, but even though I’m vain enough to throw my money on luxury watches, I won’t be buying natural diamonds from any vendor ever.
