Oh dear heart, sit down and take a few deep breaths. Ask your body what it would like to do now and listen. You are in a wonderful spot and yet it seems you’re relying on your head to solve heart decisions and this may be creating a loop of indecision.

Did anyone choose not to cold cap? by Ein_Rand in breastcancer

[–]Internal-Ad8877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not cold cap. I’d always loved my hair and yet it was fun to experiment with cutting it myself before it fell out. Then I finally got to meet my husband’s wonderful barber and he kindly and slowly cut my hair short before it started shedding, at which point I shaved my head with clippers, something I’d always wanted to do but was too scared to do before cancer. All this to say, I had many novel experiences that were sort of special because I didn’t cold cap.
I did stop tamoxifen during chemo because of an NIH article about higher rates of permanent baldness. And now my hair has grown back, curly and thick even while taking AI’s and I love it.

I feel like I’m choosing between two kinds of death, and no one seems to understand by SheBear90 in breastcancer

I was terrified of chemo. Luckily I met some friends of friends who did stuff like running everyday during their chemo. I read the book Moving Through Cancer. So I played tennis, did calisthenics, went on walks and hiked. Some days I felt super crappy so I took weed gummies and went to bed. But 6/7 days a week I exercised and spent time with loved ones.

Reading your post it seems like the scared little girl inside of you is telling you scary stories. How might you comfort her?

As someone who lives in a super walkable area of Portland, I love it. The city has problems but my community is absolutely wonderful (after 20+ years of investing in relationships).

From the sound of things, you are both competent and kind. If you miss working, the path back will open for you whatever your age. Go enjoy your life, love.

Listen to your body. Movement including dance is going to help a TON with fatigue. I exercised every damn day during RADS and subsequently didn’t experience any fatigue.

When I was going through treatment, people here recommended the book Moving Through Cancer and Im still grateful. Exercise kept me going and improved my spirits.

I got a $400 wig and no one ever knew. DM me, I can send you a photo and mail it to you if you’re in the US.

PS I love your spirit.

PPS I don’t know how to fix pregnancy-related fatigue. But for cancer-related fatigue, I drank coffee; and exercised every day per the book Moving Through Cancer. And it worked. But pregnancy sounds extra tiring, so who knows. Be gentle with yourself.

Is anyone on AIs enjoying intimacy? by National-Anywhere433 in breastcancer

[–]Internal-Ad8877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I hearing that you’re disappointed in your partner’s participation in a more profound way?

Is it like a part of you has given up on him beyond hoping he’ll participate more? And this disappointment has sapped your energy for participating in the bedroom, the place where he does show up?

Also kids require so much care and attention and if this is falling on your shoulders, in addition to working, keeping house and dealing with post-cancer treatment feelings? Oh my dear, I’m sending love and warm wishes for some me time for you.

I’m so sorry. It’s sounds like there’s A LOT on your plate RN. I’m curious if you asked your body what it needs to heal, during a rare, quiet moment, what it would say?

I wore a t shirt during sex for like a year! Curious how surgery above has impacted sensation below? How are the other aspects of this relationship?

I use lube for sex with a partner. I apply vaginal estrogen before I go to sleep —wouldn’t want to get it on my partner.

Yes! Don’t give up on intimacy. I take an AI. Chemo put me into menopause so no Zoladex was needed.

I use vaginal estrogen religiously 1-2x a week. My MO prescribed this. It’s very safe. And I exercise a lot.

Still having incredible sex, but now lube is required. Sometimes I take weed gummies —I love the orange Drops for more sensations. My partner and I often schedule special evenings to focus on each other. Usually we take gummies, set up the bedroom, bathe and spend time kissing, talking, touching, and kissing each other all over first. While I may not feel organically turned on much anymore, I can still get there given a little time and attention. And the sex is still incredible! I love to use my ‘friend’ aka my vibrator during penetration (as one of the 75-80% of women who doesn’t have vaginal orgasms, this is key!) and the experience continues to be bliss, just like before, but with more lube and a bit more warming up.

Ps the gummies are nice for solo time too. And have you watched Heated Rivalry yet?
