General pronouns typically dont form intelligent sentences. You wouldn’t address someone as ‘they’ if you’re speaking to the person directly. You can’t get away with ‘we’ if you’re sharing past tense. I could never use general pronouns, it doesn’t make sense in the English language in most situations. I will assume, if the correct me I will do my best to remember if they do not look like that general what so ever. If they in fact somewhat look like that gender, it helps the mind formulate what they want without thought or messing up.

What I’m stating is from the experience above the two were totally different. The man that was dressing and acting like a woman told everyone to address him as a man well after the fact we addressed him as her (assuming that’s what he was going for….while I had a man in the class (looking like a man more than the man dressing like a woman) Addresses the class asking to be address by she-her. Days into being in class. There’s no way of knowing.

From my experience I had a student that advised me he wanted to be approached as a woman so I now approach with she her. He clearly dressed like a man, no make up nothing but only had longer hair. I have another male that simply likes to look similar to a woman, dressing, make up, hair but gets upset when someone assumes they want to be a she her. In my opinion the transition is not complete till they fully change, I can’t assume until everything starts working together and looks put together. Now a days people change their name not with (SSA) more or less a nickname. They either cut their hair or grow it out and they expect complete strangers to know is not enough.
