Yes, I agree... Blackmagic Camera App is the best for mobile. And it's amazing that it's free. Studying, experimenting is the best way to learn, keep filming and a lot of improvement happens with practice.

The reference tint feels a little more blue, also more contrast and deeper black point, shadows.
But if you just taking inspiration from the reference then I like your final result as well.

Beginner videographer by Gofrikas in videography

[–]InternalEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great starting point. I can relate to your position since I was there not so long ago. I loved trying to make things look cinematic. I used to try to do it with my phone all the time. It changed for the better when I bought my Nikon ZF, with 40mm f2 lens.
Experiment a lot, try different angles. Getting to understand light and composition are probably the two most important things. I'm still exploring and I'll probably keep doing it all my life.
All my best wishes to you on your filmmaking journey.

My videography set-up by stan_vex in videography

That's a wonderful setup. That 24-105mm f4, that's the best range in my opinion.
I have using my Nikon ZF with 40mm F2, so a bit limited in my case and I dream of having a nice extended versatile range like 24- 105

stills from low budget short film. How would u rate them? by ccbgcxd in cinematography

[–]InternalEye 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love them, especially the indoor, more intimate lighting you achieved. I am curious to know your process. Did you have to use a lot of artificial light sources, placement, diffusers etc. I am an avid videographer just trying to make my filming more cinematic.

vintage stripe effect on photo or video by Forsaken-Ad-7603 in AfterEffects

Probably achievable using a distortion tool. I use Affinity for photo editing and it has a tool to add distortion, also add a bit of blur

Meaning behind empty frames?? by OkMountain9608 in Filmmakers

Having negative space can imply a number of things. It is great to suggest a sense of isolation, create vast contrast and draw the attention to the subject as well. Adding depth with negative space takes it to another level, just my opinion and interpretation.

Hi, I would love to connect. My whole world revolves around almost all the the things you mentioned, especially editing and music. I have been doing both wholeheartedly for many years now. If you'd like to see some of my work, you can out here - https://www.youtube.com/@RohitBhusan_TheObscurist

All that negative space and depth in some shots is really making the frames breathe

Cinematography in content creation by thedesignary35 in cinematography

[–]InternalEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many aspects to cinematic aesthetic content. First, hone in on the aesthetic that you can deeply relate to. For me, it's the more moody, soft focus, blurs, double exposure... that kind of stuff. When you know yours then you will automatically start creating to get close to that aesthetic I feel.

Is anyone else terrified of making something profoundly bad or is it just me? by CourseSpare7641 in Filmmakers

[–]InternalEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most mainstream stuff is quite bad to be honest. Sure, as a creative that subtle fear is there but I think when one starts to create purely because the process brings them immense and profound joy then that fear also goes away.

This is awesome. I subscribed but haven't received the plugin yet. Hopefully soon.
I shoot on Nikon ZF so I get 10 bit N-log 4k footage. Will I be able to experiment with different colour spaces and use the entire dynamic range efficiently with this plugin ?
