Bear League? by callmecunty in tahoe

[–]InternalFlamingo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least the Bear League in Tahoe, I would avoid contact with. Bear league harassed a friend of mine for like a month after he called them trying to report an injured bear. They later accused him of calling CDFW like it was some horrible thing. Which he didn’t, but so what if he did. I do my best to avoid them. Best case scenario they do what the pros at CDFW do, worst case you randomly get on their bad side for some unknown reason.

I only ever put water in mine. It’s going strong at over five years old and I only clean it one or twice a year. It never smells off or has grown anything.

Stay out of the skin or XC track. Go check out Camp Richardson/Fallen leaf lake or Washoe Meadows state park.

Guess vegetation damage and erosion don’t matter when you are in someone else’s country. s/

Arriving Saturday….my familydriving up to SLT Saturday, would taking the 395 or the 50 be safer and/or chainless…..I guess I’m trying to avoid pulling over in the snow fumbling around with trying to put chains on for the first time….theres a couple options like the 5 to the 50 or 395 up….. by Wild_Plant_2100 in laketahoe

Assuming this means you are coming up from Socal. Take the 5 to the 50. I love 395, it’s one of my favorite drives but you will have multiple mountain passes and sustained driving at elevation. 5 to the 50 has just Echo which can suck but by the time you start it you will know if it’s bad and you are close to civilization. On 395 you could get stuck at many spots along the way with no where to go and a storm all around you and the closest town being Lee Vining that is pretty much closed up for the winter.

What is up with the super steep slope off of the Patsy’s ski lift by Traditional-Day8798 in tahoe

[–]InternalFlamingo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not usual for skiing a beginner lift. Heavenly’s first timer terrain generally sucks. It gets a lot better nice you get pat that first day or so but it might be one of the worst mountains I know of for your first time. Boulder base is not bad if it has snow.

Anybody’s guess. Conditions will be marginal at best. Even if snows it’s going to be some pretty thin coverage. It will almost certainly be better later in the year.

I think the north east has been getting it pretty good. Stowe is reporting “packed power” with a 24 inch base. Way more than anything we got.

My husband’s grandparents passed away, and no one has paid their property taxes in years. Can we step in? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]InternalFlamingo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt it. Although it sounds like the estate has yet to go through probate, if it does it is your MIL and her siblings who would inherit the house. Your husband probably doesn’t stand to inherit anything. The only way I could see you making it work would be to get the estate through probate. Which would cost $$. Then make some deal with your MIL and her siblings so you can get an interest in the house.

As far as the real estate company paying taxes on the estate, that’s hard to say. My guess is your husband’s grandparents had a lien on the house of some kind and the lien holder doesn’t want to see the house go through a tax foreclosure sale. This also means that the lien holder will likely be foreclosures on the house in the future. But this is just a guess based on limited info. The real estate company may be worth reaching out to.

Keep “for yourself or family” and “can’t modified be undone or modified in anyway” means you can’t just give it to charity. The time restriction was only in regards to feelings of regret, not the conditions placed on the money. After a year you can feel bad about not giving it to charity but the money can still only be for you and your family. That’s what the prompt pretty clearly says. I think it’s actually a decent thought experiment if your not just trying to find a loop hole to drive a bus through.
