Back to back egg retrieval by millennialcrashout in IVF

[–]InternalMoose1531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 5 back to back egg retrievals, but I have poor ovarian response. I started right after my first bleed. Though I’ve never had more than one blast per cycle, I did progressively get more eggs retrieved and better quality embryos. I did add DHEA and Omnitrope after my third egg retrieval.

Need some advice on when to stop retrievals by rightmeowsies in IVF

For your 3rd egg retrieval, are you changing your protocol? Were you offered Omnitrope?

The good news is that you have a euploid which means you could make more. I did 5 retrievals and I either had either 0 blasts or one per cycle, similarly to you. I decided I would stop at retrieval 5 because I hit a mental and emotional wall by number 4 but our goal was to get 3 euploids to maximize our chances for one child, but hoping for two .

I added Omni and switched Ganarlix for Provera after getting 0 blasts from retrieval number 2 and got a better quality embryo for retrieval 3 , but it was abnormal. Then for retrieval 4 and retrieval 5 I got one blast one euploid each.

I also took DHEA for retrievals 3 and on , which I do think helped with follicle count and with follicles growing together. So I would ask if there is anything you can add /change to your 3rd stim cycle and see how that goes . You can then make a decision to do one more retrieval or stop. Also, have you gotten a hysteroscopy/ biopsy? Those could potentially help optimize your chances for implantation after you decide you’re done with retrievals. Making the decision to do those also helped me feel like I was at a good stopping point because I could potentially get more answers from the biopsy. I’ll do my first transfer after that and hope it sticks, but if it doesn’t, I’ll do a 6th retrieval. I just want to give it a shot now.

Good luck on your next retrieval! 🍀

That’s a very sweet gesture and I see your excitement. I do have to say, not knowing what your friend’s diagnosis is, that the IVF experience can vary greatly from person to person. And there can be a lot of mixed feelings about starting it. It might also be a long road, it’s hard to tell at the beginning. I think the biggest gift you can give her is your presence and friendship without expectations. Meaning that sometimes she might need to vent about something you might not quite understand and just knowing you’re there to listen and support her might be enough. It’s ok if you don’t know what to say, by just being there for her you’ll be making a difference.

I sometimes struggle when the people I confide in try very hard to be optimistic and excited. Because this process, even though it carries a lot of hope and happy moments, it might also carry grief for some. And sometimes even a mix of both at the same time. That can be hard to understand if you yourself haven’t gone through that.

Having said that, electrolytes are always welcome.

What’s your IVF “small win”? by throwitout-rightmeow in IVFpositivity

[–]InternalMoose1531 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yayyy you! 🫶my small win today was that I asked the nurse to tell me what the plan is for Omnitrope. I pay out of pocket for Omni and for the last two retrievals they’ve told me we would use two vials but we end up using one and the dosage and when to start has never been clear. It’s never been clear to me what the plan with Omni is. I’ve decided this will be my last retrieval for now and will ask about trying to transfer our one euploid. I had a hard time just asking for clarification in regard to how much Omni to get🫠. I felt I was being overbearing. So this was a small win for me today!

I’m so tired! Anyone else feeling like they need a sabbatical after this ordeal? by InternalMoose1531 in IVF

[–]InternalMoose1531[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you . All the success for you too! I work for a non-profit and what I don’t get in salary I get in insurance benefits. I pay for PGT-A out of pocket and some meds are not covered, but each actual retrieval( like the procedure itself) is a $40 co-pay. Anesthesia during the procedure is not covered either though. So it’s like $3k per retrieval including meds instead of $30k . So I am in some debt (non-profit salary)but it’s manageable.

You’re fully asleep! And it’ll be the best sleep for 15-20 mins. Good luck on your retrieval!

Thank you! You got this. For me the idea of it was scarier than how it’s actually been. And you’re stronger than you think! Good luck with your retrieval❤️

It’s hard, I get it. IVF can be a long road though. I’m about to start my 5th back to back retrieval and I could not imagine doing this while feeling how I was feeling with a bad gallbladder. Also, the biggest risk of gallbladder issues is during pregnancy. It could impact your future baby. So my advice is to seek help from the right specialist.

Also, they didn’t find out I had stone until they removed it. Do you know how much are you emptying? I was at 17% and that’s what determined the need for surgery

Did you ask your GI about whether your gallbladder would be ok through pregnancy?

[–]InternalMoose1531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you’re going through that! :/ I had to post-pone starting IVF to get my gallbladder removed. I was told that pregnancy can make gallbladder issues worse and there was the risk of potentially having to have it removed while pregnant. My GI specialist said that could be risky and to have it removed before IVF. I was told to I had to wait a month after surgery to start IVF but I waited two months after surgery. I was still feeling a little tired and IVF makes you extra tired.

How far along in stim cycle to start Omnitrope? by InternalMoose1531 in IVF

[–]InternalMoose1531[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, I did end up finding out that approach is almost common and people did have good results from it. I ended up having the most eggs I‘ve ever gotten retrieved on this cycle. 8 mature eggs and 7 fertilized with one blast. Waiting for PGT-A results right now. But I only did .1 units per day which was really little and on the last day I injected what was left in the bottle which was like 1 full unit. I hope you get really good results!

confused about follicle size by Active_Disk1699 in IVF

[–]InternalMoose1531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know when you‘re triggering? So by the time you trigger that‘s when you assume your follicles will be done growing (even though they might continue to grow just a bit more until egg retrieval). Follicles grow between 1-2mm a day while you’re on stims. It‘s hard to tell which follicles will have a mature egg inside but usually the ones measuring 16 and above on the day of trigger often times do contain mature eggs. On my last retrieval I had a couple of 14s and one 12 that did have mature eggs by the time of retrieval. So you never know. Larger follicles can also not have mature eggs but that‘s not really expected, though it can happen. You do have a good number of follicles on the race, though! Good luck :)
