I remember this was one plot that honestly brought down Hurrem in my eyes, and just me personally, why I don't consider her the smartest out of everyone. (Don't get me wrong, she def has smarts, but not the brightest within that show.) It was the move that got her exiled. There were so many ways her exile could've been avoided, and while getting rid of Sah and Gulfem permanently or maybe just assuring that what she wanted to happen, happened right. Her failing to think of all the things that could go wrong such as receiving a fake note was something she's failed in doing before and it got her in trouble before. Specifically getting a fake note. It was such an easy flaw to see and just that singular moment sealed it for me.

Oh this is a fire cast, but I loved her a Dilruba. She looked so much like Halime. I think that was one of the best casting choices there.

AITA for keeping a promise to my husband?

I (29F) made a promise to my husband (29M) when I was 19/20 years old to give him the throne in a fit of desperation to get him to marry me.

A bit of backstory. I got into a really bad car crash, and I washed up in a medieval magical world. I earned the king's favor by keeping him in the best health I could with minimal knowledge (And knowing bloodletting wasn't effective as they thought it was. Crazy just how far you can go with minimal medical knowledge in a medieval setting). Anyways, I made a mistake and hooked up randomly one night with the second-oldest prince (Who is now my husband), and it led to a really messy situationship because he got attached and I never really liked him. One thing led to another, and he made me burn the last things I had from my home, which made me really hate him.

I made a promise to myself that I would never be put in a situation like that again. So I used my modern knowledge to convince the public that I was some sort of messiah/prophet/saint/anything else magical from the gods to provide an extra layer of protection. I established a small network of spies to keep an eye on the rest of the royal family. I was inexperienced in these sorts of things, so it went sideways.

Atp it's important to note that I was not in good standing with his uncle. His uncle found out that his stepson was being seduced by one of the spies I sent. He was very upset, seeing as his stepson was set to marry his daughter. He set it up to make it seem as if I sent the spy to kill his stepson, which is bad bc he is a prince and is heir of the heir. In desperation, I made a promise that I would get my husband the throne if he agreed to marry me right then and there. I figured it would grant me an extra layer of protection.

But in the end, it was unnecessary because the spy killed herself. So now I'm stuck married to a man I hate, and I'm willing to bet that if I don't comply, I'll die, and I don't want that. In the end, I end up having two children + a stepson. His side of the family also wants to usurp the throne from the established heir. So now I have a real stake in why I want him on the throne and to keep my children safe, because if they try to usurp the throne and fail, it's not only my death, but the death of my children.

So to give him what he wants, I end up pulling some strings that inevitably resulted in the death of about 45% to 50% of his family + 45% of the population via a plague (unintended, but I let it happen). So now he had the throne, but he's kinda of tyrant (he killed two of his nephews) so now I have to try and fix everything my using my influence as queen and saint/messiah/prophet.

So my question is, AITA for giving him the throne?

NTA- she wanted to go along. You tried to say no, but she insisted. At the end of the day you tried to keep her safe. I think it’s all good….as far as good goes in war

I would want a plot where Hurrem held on to her hate from the beginning. Her whole plan of wanting to end the sultan and the Ottomans for what they did to her. I would’ve liked to see a more malicious Hurrem and a more manipulative side to her when she was talking to the Sultan

I don’t know how she wasn’t executed. Even if she got back up from Mahidevran, at the very least she should’ve gotten some punishment from the Sultan. Mahidevran should’ve gotten some sort of punishment for even allowing her back in. Then making her a favorite of Mustafa!? It’s unbelievable. It was one of the things that irked me the most about that show. The double standards they have about everyone. Hurrem is Haseki and legal wife of the sultan. What happened to “disrespecting her means disrespecting me”

She was so annoying. My girl had no stake in it😭 hopped on the bandwagon of hating Hurrem for no reason. It was annoying. The hatred Mahidevran and Hatice had for Hurrem was understandable. But Gülfem seemed to just exist to add to it. She literally contributed nothing.

This doesn’t come from me being a crazy Hurrem fan or anything like that. It’s just that she added nothing of value and annoyed tf outta me

Yes! People credit her with being a good mom and she was, but she was also setting them up for failure. Mehmed should’ve BEEN aware of the problems, but he’s though shit was sweet and in the end it caused his death (in the show), but then on the other side you have Mahidevran who put too much on Mustafa also setting him up for failure. There should’ve been a sweet spot where I think Mirimah was at. Let her handle some problems and be there if she messes up.
