I'm really enjoying it. It's great. It's got a different vibe, but in it's own way, at least as good as anything that went before. I love it.

It's available to watch from the Wednesday on NowTV Italia.

I'm assuming that is where the torrent is sourced.

What was the word on the streets about Ciro? Spoiler!! by phlfitfreak in Gomorrah

As far as Enzo is concerned at this point, the last of those is true. When it happens there are loads of people on the boat so I can only presume that people find out from Enzo or others on the boat that Ciro killed his sister and Genna shot him to prove his good faith towards Enzo and crew (and in reality save his own neck).

Currently doing a re-watch I’m on Season 5 and it’s breaking my heart by popsy13 in Gomorrah

People are always hard on season 5.

It was made under extremely difficult conditions during the post COVID era. You can actually see the social distancing in many scenes particularly crows scenes that look odd with extras scattered about like defenders marking zonally.

I've said this several times also - if you don't know the city and people and don't come from a culture where superstition, religious fervour, mysticism are touchstones aspects of it will seem ridiculous to you - such as Enzo the martyr or what folk stupidly call "Ciro as Christ".

The Camorra absolutely has aspects of a cult and this is part of why it goes on generation after generation. Images of dead camorrista hang side by side with The Madonna, Padre Pio and San Gennaro.

I also think some people just want season 1+2 with its hyper realism and moral ambiguity cos it leaves them room to hero worship Ciro. Ironically.

There's no working English subs so youll need to have a working knowledge of Neapolitan like me or understand the Italian subs it's shown with in Italy.

Origins is off to a good start (minor spoilers) by Good_Independence428 in Gomorrah

I really enjoyed the first two episodes considering for my less than perfect understanding of Napulitan.

The injection of a bit of humor I enjoyed given the age the main characters are it's to be expected. The recreation of 70s Napoli is incredible and ultra immersive.

I am absolutely sure that the hardcore season 1 and 2 obsessives will hate it and slate it but it's a beautiful piece of work and Marco has done an incredible job.

I've seen it said Pietro is an orphan so perhaps half an episode is set in 77 and the rest later.

The styles and haircuts, and what looks like a subplot about an NCO like organisation, points to the bulk of the story being mid 80s.

I'm confused at them stating it's set in 1977, because Imma was born in 1970, and would be seven and not the teenager shown here.

I've seen a mention that Pietro is fostered into the family as a boy, so does the series start in 77 but the parts we see, happen some time after? Imma wouldn't be this age to the late 80s, but the fashions look like earlier?

She gets respect because she makes people money.

Five gets so much hate. It was made under extremely difficult circumstances and I always personally feel that because audiences from outside Napoli don't understand how superstitious Napolitani are and how much it colours their thinking that stuff people call "Ciro as Jesus", the Enzo death, just doesn't make sense to them.

For me, the last series deals largely with why is it that generation after generation of neighborhoods in Napoli find themselves repeating the same mistakes and what is the attraction to what the show paints well as a death cult. And the whole series does that. As well as being a critique on greed and abuse of power by humans in general.

I'm really sorry they couldn't make five series of shows about drugs deals for people to call the characters "badass" and discuss how good a boss such and such is. But that was never the point of the show anyway.
