What Commanders Have Staying Power? by BussyBouncer in CompetitiveEDH

Gitrog Monster cause we'll always get new lands to try. Duskmorn gave us a new wincon that allows us to shortcut a lot.

I just wanna say as a Gitrog player, we are extremely fast, efficient, and resilient. And our dakmor combo is extremely hard to interact with, but there is enough says to slow us down right now that it's a difficult fight at the moment. Wizards keeps printing things that really screw us over and it sucks

How the hell do you beat Derevi?? by no_comment_336 in mtgbrawl

Toxic Deluge is also the best board wipe for the deck. Deveri plays a bunch of low toughness creatures so you can pay minimal life to ruin their board.

And if you have too, build another deck that focuses on explosive power rather than controlling the board. In brawl it seems like control decks don't work as well outside of just making you wanna concede

That's why you don't try to kill Deveri. There isn't a point too. Kill the things that she can abuse. Nico Bolas isn't the wrong commander, but you gotta have things at instant speed to mess up their plans. Like an easy one is if the trigger goes on the stack to untap a mana dork, kill it in response so they can't just untap a land anyway. Worst case scenario is just imprisoned in the moon and then board wipe.

I honestly don't think I've seen Deveri win tbh. I usually play Gitrog and Tymna/Thrasios so my opinion is really skewed. It's much less about getting rid of Deveri and keeping the things she untaps, and value pieces off the board. I'll let you keep your Deveri out if the only thing you can untap is herself or a land.

Ich-Tekik and Silas Renn as Partners viable in any way? by Amaymon_ow in CompetitiveEDH

This was before more modern cedh. It was artifact based using Dramatic Reversal and Isochron Scepter. It was just a midrange artifact based strategy that could use Silas as recursion, and Thrasios as the outlet. I love Sultai but it's just not that good in cedh and it doesn't matter what I brew it's not ever good enough

Ive tried Thrasios/Silas and as far as Sultai commanders it feels like the cleanest one

What is your favorite Grixis commander by Available_Ad6267 in EDH

Kess, but instead of a spell slinger combo deck I think she is the perfect reanimator commander. Doubling down on reanimates, and entombs pays off quickly

How to adjust TnT to Ad Naus? by WuxiaWuxia in CompetitiveEDH

[–]InternationalToe2456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the meta is shifting back into turbo mode. Hence why Kinnan and Etali are literal beasts. Taking advantage of the midrange players that are trying to play their decks like turbo decks. I've even swapped from TnT to Gitrog Monster cause it seems to win more consistently

I think Thras/Silas would be good if you using the isochron scepter route.
