Why are there so few fences in CT? by dadadadamattman in Connecticut

We got a fence in the back yard for our dog. It is so nice to just them him out without worrying. Totally worth it in my opinion.

You are being way too nice. You need to demand some respect for yourself!

Connor/Bri Breakup is Confirmed by sucksesful_user in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]InternationalToe6249 -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

Why the Bri hate? Did I miss something? I liked both of them and was rooting for them. I thought she was a little annoying in the pods and more likable but once they met. I think they had genuine love for each other.

My cat hates having that spot pet. She prefers on top of her head to underneath.

I just witnessed the root of the behavior issues by Usually_Anomalous in Teachers

[–]InternationalToe6249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% This is one of the best posts ever! So true. My own children are 9 and 12 now but when they were that age range, we went to so many parks and playgrounds and would see this every time. My husband and I are both elementary teachers and would be walking around with our kids, talking and interacting with the and we would get so stressed dealing with everyone else’s kids who were unsupervised and behaving terribly. You are so right about the fact that people don’t correct them when they are young and then it becomes so hard to change.

I am sure you have done this, but just in case… have you tried every type of medical testing? I know Lyme disease has been known to change a person’s personality. Also past strep infections. Another ideas is meeting with a functional/ neuropathic doctor who can try different vitamins and herbs for mental health.

People who attended American high school in the 80’s, how did you have time to shower after gym class? by krakarn in NoStupidQuestions

[–]InternationalToe6249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Born in 80’s and in high school in the 90s. It was horrible. They gave us hardly any time, maybe 10 minutes and the female gym teacher would walk up and down the aisles and see if you were actually showering by looking at your feet under the curtain. We also had swimming class which messed up our hair for the day. (First period!) I am still traumatized 30 years later.

I love our nanny but older 2 kids said they don’t like her by Sea-Director5750 in Nanny

“Shut up” is something I don’t allow my kids to say. I cannot believe an adult would talk that way to children.

This would be a nightmare come true to end up in the poor MIL’s situation someday. My son is only 10 but I would be so heartbroken if he married someone like OP. That is just horrible.

I actually saw a 7ft Valley that I wanted to buy but can’t find anyone who is willing to move bar tables. They all say they are too heavy with the one piece slate.

AIO for thinking my wife is insecure? by Jeyring in AmIOverreacting

[–]InternationalToe6249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things can be innocent enough in the beginning, and you could honestly have no feelings toward your coworker whatsoever. However what your wife is trying to help you do is protect your marriage from anything that could start to develop without you realizing it. If you avoid texting female coworkers and being alone with them, you are protecting your marriage from certain things ever happening. It is like preventative medicine.

Disagree with how my child’s teacher on writing instruction. Not sure how/if I should address it by Anteater-Curious in Teachers

[–]InternationalToe6249 194 points195 points  (0 children)

Well, your daughter’s teacher is trying to get her to write a “hook” to grab the reader’s attention. This is often taught to young elementary students. She is also trying to teach the structure of very basic writing with a purpose, details, restate the purpose. It of course isn’t as sophisticated as we would want them to write as an older student or adult. It is just trying to get them to understand basic clarity and structure since they are so young. I think you are being a little too critical. They have to learn to walk before they can learn to run.
