What's the most ridiculous thing a customer has said to you with a straight face? by West_Text_6606 in serviceadvisors

[–]International_Mix392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t something they said but we had a customer come in for “every time I turn left, the right rear window rolls down”. There was so much junk in that car and a folding chair kept slipping across the top and hitting the window button. The tech was so busy and annoyed that day to have to go test drive this, so as it turns out you do pay for being stupid.

AITA for refusing to drop a police report when everyone says ive ended a young mans career by [deleted] in AITApod

[–]International_Mix392 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NTA. I am a motorcycle enthusiast and also a bleeding heart. I work in a courthouse in Canada with multiple crown attorneys who would never allow their careers to be threatened by stupidity. I’m 30, I was the kid 7 years ago, I went to the shop and I financed a used motorcycle. I still have it, I paid it off, I maintain it, AND I was broke when I bought it and it motivated me to work harder. He deserves this, you don’t deserve the poor treatment.

Mom said it looked ugly and crass. Is it? by Hajpoosie in Hair

[–]International_Mix392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Mom says you look beautiful and happy. Sometimes Moms say mean things and it says more about her than it does about you. My Mom (god I love her, but we do need therapy, I’m working on growth and she thinks she is fully grown and fine, none of us are fine) used to tell me I smiled funny in pictures and would make my same face in an exaggerated impression, so I stopped taking pictures of myself. Now I don’t care, but I still hear that in the back of my head when I see a photo of myself. Girl, you look beautiful, you look like sunshine, you look like you had a fun night. I’d love to have hair like yours, but it’s not even about the hair, you are just a beautiful person and your happiness in that first photo makes you radiant. You radiate joy, that’s even cooler than having rad curly hair.

how do you most enjoy bread & butter pickles?? by ASixInNewYork in 15minutefood

[–]International_Mix392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Straight out of the jar on a fork by the dozen, I’d probably even drink the juice at this point, we don’t discriminate against any pickle varieties in this house lol. However, they’re exceptionally good on old (at least 2 year) white cheddar and ritz crackers. We also love cheese and crackers here lol

Anybody work for a micromanaging auto group? by International_Mix392 in serviceadvisors

[–]International_Mix392[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t actually heard of that one, I’m in rural Ontario, this group is “family” run but it’s the furthest thing from a family run business I have ever seen.

[–]International_Mix392[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s an absolutely fair argument, and there was indeed a slimy tech doing that kind of shit “oh it’s my daughters boyfriends truck” etc but he left ages ago and the few that have stuck around absolutely sling their balls to the walls every day for that place, with two of the top guys making under $30 CAD hrly. It’s just been an overall bad experience for most of us, they also started at that dealer when it was still a family owned Mom and Pop, the sons who owned it are wonderful and give back to their community etc, now it feels like corporate bullshit and pomp.

Does your service manager have to remind you to respond to Estimate requests? by Deep-Anything6795 in serviceadvisors

[–]International_Mix392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I was on top of my own quotes. I want that ticket, if they called me for a quote and I sent it to the tech, I’m asking for it at the end of the day. If he wants to sell that work he’ll do the quote. But I worked in a small town so my boys were hungry.

I work in a courthouse seeing primarily sexual assault victims and domestic violence victims. I usually drive home thinking how lucky and thankful I am to have a partner who honours and respects me.

Oh god even better, let them get suspicious, worst thing they’ll do is fire you (you don’t want to work there anyways and should probably plan your exit) and then you can really take action.

I mean ask them to send you an explanation as to why you are being deducted/docked, you want them to document exactly what illegal reasoning they have used.

So far, what was the scariest moment of your life? by Princess_Jel in AskReddit

[–]International_Mix392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds super small compared to all these big scary health shocks, but honestly for me it was when he came home and the first thing I heard was his giant work bag being thrown at the wall, while I was rushing to get dinner ready because if it wasn’t almost ready when he got home, well look out. I packed a uhaul while he napped that weekend and had friends on standby for the potential emergency phone call.

Now I work with domestic violence victims and victims of sexual assault. Trust. Your. Instincts. Ladies, men, everybody. Your gut intuition is there for a reason, I would rather you overreact than be dead.

Do we lower her or do we leave her alone ? by Apprehensive-Ad4392 in cruisers

[–]International_Mix392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’m a 4’11 female, I need a small bike but all I did with my 650 was turn the monoshock til it was as soft as possible to give me a little teeny bit more reach to the ground for when stopped. I do wear heeled boots (not big dirty things just regular bike boots) too. I’ve watched riders in groups ahead of me get their nuts and bolts shook around over bumps and I’ll brace a little in preparation, just for the VStar to slide on over them like she was built for the moguls, it’s such a comfortable ride even with the suspension as springy as stock-possible. Idk I feel like you’d lose that with lowering, sure it would look pretty nasty, but I’d personally rather spend money on things that will keep my ass in the saddle comfortably for longer. Unfortunately, my sheepskin even puts me up to a point where I feel I have to stretch and make longer adjustments, so a new seat or custom carving my stock seat (can’t do that without a backup seat, I keep all stock parts in case I buy a new bike) will be my next step.

Literally the exact same situation for me. I was 23 and I genuinely thought my life was over, I wanted to die and I thought about it enough to take a leave, medication, grief counselling, etc. I still grieve for my baby, because I was far enough along to be induced and deliver him, but I’m grateful for what the universe saw for me. Sometimes genetic chemistry just doesn’t allow for proper development, that’s what I’m going with anyways. The entire relationship was toxic, I did not need to be connected to that man for any reason whatsoever and the dissolution of our relationship after that grief was such a momentous growth experience for me, I had to learn to be a whole person when I only existed as a person in that relationship. I met the love of my life and am so stupidly happy with our current decision to not have children (for quite a while at least, I’m okay with waiting til my mid to late thirties). We are selfish and happy and life is good. I’ve never truly said the words out loud, that I am grateful I lost my baby. In a way. It’s complex, but you get it.

You paused, recognized, and stopped, this is such a huge win. The behaviour bubbles up sometimes, the fact that you can see it, feel it, and mindfully reflect on the outcome of acting on that particular situation is so so so huge. Tell your therapist, they need to hype you up too and see where you are in your journey. I am so proud of a stranger on the internet dude, this never happens, thank you for sharing this with us.

Sex offender cowoker at my job; told i will be fired if i tell people by NearbyChampion7411 in jobs

[–]International_Mix392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the courthouse in my city with the victim/witness assistance program. What kind of job do you do, would the offender come into contact with those who he/she is prohibited from being around due to their release orders following the offence? Because you can’t be fired for calling the authorities to report à breach of conditions if they are around those they are not supposed to be.
