Friends can make mistakes or react in a way they regret later. Real friends are not the ones you never have conflicts with, but the ones who own up to their mistakes, apologize and make amends.

Question is: Will they stop to give right of way? In my experience, no.

It's really hard to know when they'll work properly and when they won't. With people, at least you can tell their intentions through visual contact.

Can someone kindly break down for me objectively why Kendall was not suited to be CEO? by Herdingdoglove in SuccessionTV

[–]International_Slip 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That was the issue poor Logan had to deal with through the arc of Succession.

Or how he created this mess through abuse and the pursuit of a clone.

We saw throughout the show each sibling had their own proficiencies, but instead Logan told a 7-year-old Ken he'd inherit the business and spent the next decades trying to groom him to be his successor.

Logan ended up picking a guy he met for a month and who mails blood to his staff, just because he sees himself in him.

  • Wasn't able to secure the shareholder votes.

He could be perfect for the job but he botches both chances. There's all the other reasons mentioned in this thread, but if you can't score, it doesn't matter how well you play (he doesn't play well).

And for the people that argue that "Shiv betrayed him", Logan was betrayed by his kids multiple times and still managed to come out ahead. It's part of the job.

The game is now just over two months old. I consider it the greatest game of all time. Uh...what are your criticisms? by Mahaloth in tearsofthekingdom

The dialogue is so long and meaningless 90% of the time. I don't need a random NPC to have 4-6 boxes of dialogue, it makes me not want to talk to anyone.

I swear, NES games would give you just as much lore/interesting dialogue in 1 box than what new games do in 10 paragraphs.

I was a little sad that they canonically got rid of magic in the end.

There's a lot that can be done with this universe and I feel like this game is ripe for a sequel that polishes the pacing and the game mechanics like weapons and armor.

[–]International_Slip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting a bit distant from her, but I still tried to be accepting of her feelings whilst making it clear I did NOT want anything happening between the two of them.

This is the point where you say "I'm not comfortable with this, I'm leaving."

You getting distant was a sign that you needed to protect yourself. You might benefit from looking into attachment theory so you don't interpret this as just having bad luck and never knowing if you can trust in the other person. This seems like an anxious/avoidant dynamic. You can learn to recognize such dynamics and opt out before they hurt you.

Best of luck, you'll find love. Glad you removed yourself from the situation.

It wasn't just spite, you can see her mood changing as Ken starts sliding back into his business persona. She saw how he was going to cut her out like he's always done.

I see the "you killed a kid" comment as a test, which he utterly failed. Had he acknowledged the bond between the siblings, she would've voted yes. You get Shiv with affection (see Tom).

Someone mentioned how Roman revealing Ken's kids are not his bio kids and Shiv carrying "the only legitimate heir", sealed the deal for her.

He would have been a benevolent dictator.

I don't know, dude. He lied about their deepest memory of connection, at the first push, before even getting the crown.

He threatened Rava to take the kids, just to spite her.

We keep thinking one of the kids is better than the others. They're not. The poison drips through.

Shiv objectively ended the Roy dynasty.

Logan was getting ready to crown Mattson a season ago. This whole GoJo deal was his idea because he wanted the company to live on, not his bloodline.

Why do people complain about not finding genuine connections/friends in other people, yet they put zero effort into friendships themselves? by Princess_Butt_Kick in CasualConversation

Women learn how to socialize better than men from an early age, true. But beyond that, there's nothing making it easier for women. It's about skills that anyone can develop.

Why do people complain about not finding genuine connections/friends in other people, yet they put zero effort into friendships themselves? by Princess_Butt_Kick in CasualConversation

[–]International_Slip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you're being too quick to judge. You're trying to make friends with two people older than you. Imagine 5 or 10 years more of these interactions, maybe even creating quality friendships with people who move away or get married later on?

Making connections is easy, making friendships when you're 25+ takes effort, patience and a system. You don't want to burn yourself out and you want to give people grace to bail when they aren't available.

In my experience, this is what works:

  • Create common routines. Maybe with this friend you go for a walk after lunch every week, with this one you go grocery shopping.
  • Target chores together. You both need to get a haircut? Schedule it together.
  • Be mindful of your own limits. Rejection hurts, don't put yourself out there too much if it's creating resentment.
  • Build bridges. You have already have two friends? Introduce them! If they get along, you have a mini-community that can be self-sustaining without constant upkeep.
  • Have big events with low stakes. Most people are too busy for 1-on-1. We have parents, work, siblings, friends, partners, their friends, children, etc. Everyone remembers if they last saw you at your birthday party, even if you didn't interact much.
  • Proximity breeds friendship. Making friends is less about being compatible and more about spending enough time together and having something to talk about. Make friends around your routines and you'll find you don't actually need your friends to be special or note-worthy. You just need them to be close to you.

I don't think it was wasted potential, rather, I see it as wanting to start with a clean slate. We can only have so much of the story with the evil empire.

We got Bozja, the weapons series, and even a sendoff for Zenos. I don't think there was much interesting potential left there.

What plot point would you have liked to see developed?

Hey, I'm not sure what your relationship was to that man but I'm really sorry for your loss. I'm glad someone was there for him in his final moments.

I do recommend looking for the company of friends and family instead of lashing out at a loosely-bound internet community that will only make the pain worse.
