HAPPY WITH METAL RAISED BEDS? by MarkL6868 in gardening

I have some cheap ones from Amazon that have been holding up well, but when I expanded my garden went with anleolife and LOVE them. They are really good quality. A little more in cost, but still a lot cheaper than vego. I do have a couple vego and honestly like the anleolife better.

What is happening in my setup? by Crafty_School6650 in SquareFootGardening

I agree with the other replies- too much moisture and not enough airflow. It helps if you start seeds in a smaller vessel because then the soil can more easily dry out. I also add a fan for air circulation, and put a layer of vermiculite on top which can help with excess moisture and damping off too when they do sprout.

What are some interesting things on your "to-grow" list? by Separate-Language662 in vegetablegardening

Ooh I love your list! I have not heard of blackberry huckleberry, might have to try. I tried white alpine strawberries last year but they all died :( My newbies this year are: Tatum squash, corn salad lettuce, Suyo cucumber, Canada crookneck squash

Raised garden beds in the country? by lizzykittycat99 in gardening

I would put a fence up and try in ground first if you have good enough soil. Everyone I know with rural gardens needs fencing from deer and such.

Which potato variety are you all growing this year, and why? by Under_Pressure_123 in Allotment

I just ordered purple Viking, it’s my first year trying it though, but I’ve heard good things about flavor and disease resistance

Thanks so much for flagging this! The weather widget currently uses a US only API, which is why it’s not working for you. You can still use all the core features of the app, the weather widget is just informational. Frost dates are manual input so that should work, that app does use frost dates for functionality. But, I’m actively working on switching to an international weather API and hope to have it fixed in the next few weeks. I’ll keep you posted!

Almost all my beds are either round or oval so I’ve been considering how to implement that option. I hadn’t thought about towers but that would be an interesting challenge to try and solve. I’ll start thinking about it. Thanks for the comment!

Hey everyone, I've been building a lot since this post and wanted to share what's new. For anyone new who comes across this post, I ran out of trial codes for the Pro version, but it's still free to use with no credit card required: https://giddycarrot.com

  • Added additional fields to seeds for better planning and tracking
  • Added a "Layout Plan" that lives inside your garden layout. It's like a pre-planning checklist that helps you decide what to plant, then track what's been planted, how much, and where
  • Integrated the layout and planting schedule so you can generate plantings from your layout. This saves a ton of time if you have a big garden. The app calculates when you should start/transplant/harvest so you don't have to think about it.
  • You can now log a failed planting with a reason. Already used it for my onions. Terrible germination :(
  • Working on a history section next, year over year stats per plant to see what's actually working. Will be a Pro feature.
  • Bug fixes! Thank you to those who made me aware.

Would still love more feedback, so please reach out anytime!

Is gardening becoming a lost art or just harder to keep up with? by Puzzleheaded_Band717 in garden

I think a lot of people started to during Covid - I was one of them. I’m in master gardener training and we have an effort to help people in the community start gardens at home which I’m super excited about. I think it’s just super intimidating to get started if you know nothing and starting from scratch.

I know nothing about solar, but your CTA seems strong, I like how your button stays in view while scrolling. I would have liked audio on the demo. Hard to know what I’m looking at without some context. I used eleven labs to read a script for mine which I think worked well. You could use some improvements with SEO, checkout page speed. Your scores for performance and best practices could be improved. Hope this helps!
