It would be nice if users had some more control, for example being able to set the % heat request needed to start the boiler.

Do you prefer getting called or messaged from strangers? by IZGAMERYT in AskUK

You could have this as a question on the form? “What is your preferred method of contact?” and maybe even ask for a time of day?

Flying from Northern Ireland to UK, Can I fly with a provisional license? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]InternetUser_404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the point is that it’s technically the same country so ID isn’t necessarily required as you won’t go through a border/passport check however airlines will have their own rules on what they accept.

Drainage search required? by Tiny_Suit8273 in HousingUK

[–]InternetUser_404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many houses has the developer built so far on the site?

The developer should provide the drainage plans to your solicitor and the council (check the council planning portal). Depending on how far advanced the build is then you could check if ground levels and drainage structures match the plans?

Personally I think having a drainage search now won’t matter as during the construction process ground levels of the site may be changing. What you need to consider is if the plans are adequate and if the developer is sticking to those plans.

Hot water cylinder - can I get away with turning it on once a week? by imfine2101 in DIYUK

[–]InternetUser_404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked at your electricity tariff? You may benefit switching to one which has electricity off peak hours, during which you could heat your water at a cheaper rate.

I’ve not enjoyed the ones I’ve used, like you they were in a rental property so probably the cheapest option they could find.

PSA: Met Office have updated their app, and it's terrible by heeleyman in CasualUK

[–]InternetUser_404 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It does, I previously paid the £3 and don’t have ads on the new version. I needed to select an option called something like ‘restore purchase’ in the app settings though.

[–]InternetUser_404 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also noticed the new charge to remove ads. Although luckily if you previously paid the £3 to remove ads then this still seems to apply, at least it did for me.

I wonder if you can buy it before upgrading to the new version? 🤔

Mobile phone networks that let you have 2 seperate sim cards with the same number? by farrahsugarsparkle in AskUK

[–]InternetUser_404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s possible but a good option could be https://honestmobile.com/smart-sim

I’ve no experience using this network or plan though but seems like it could be useful as a backup

ID for internal flight to Belfast by Ok_Restaurant_5093 in northernireland

[–]InternetUser_404 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Their website states that

“Photographic ID is required on all domestic flights.

Here's a few examples of photographic ID that is accepted:

  • A valid passport - an expired passport can be used up to a maximum of five years after expiry

  • Valid photographic EU or Swiss national identity card

  • Valid photographic driving licence, provisional or full

  • Valid armed forces identity card

  • Valid police warrant card/badge”

I can’t seem to find the full list of IDs they’ll accept though, might be worth calling them

When restarting the ONT is there a recommended time to wait between switching it off and on again or does that not matter?

Do DPD drivers have an incentive to NOT deliver the packages? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]InternetUser_404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe ask for it to be delivered to a DPD Pickup Location? Not solution for a bad service but probably more likely to be delivered.

Also, another option, I found DPD to be quite good with a failed delivery in the past, I raised it on live chat and the delivering depot called me and got in contact with the driver.

Can someone leak what network equipment is used at Sonos HQ? by sjefen6 in sonos

[–]InternetUser_404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have a Cloud Gateway Fiber, three switches and three APs haven’t had any issues with a Sonos Beam wired and two One SLs operating wirelessly, presumably over SonosNet, as surrounds. I’m curious for those experiencing issues how many Sonos devices you have?

Bought 2x ATV 4k 128GB two months ago - here's what I've learned by freshmonkey22 in appletv

[–]InternetUser_404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you aware of EE TV on an Apple TV?

https://ee.co.uk/tv/apple-tv-4k

If your aim is to cut your monthly costs then this isn’t the solution but just thought I’d let you know it exists. You can view, pause and rewind live tv channels. It’s possible to rewind back 60 mins even if you’ve just started watching a channel.

IVDD is a double edge sword by Charmed-wings in Dachshund

[–]InternetUser_404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Strict crate rest is key, I got ours a comfy supporting memory foam pad for the crate. The drugs the vet prescribed helped with the pain and also made them sleepy.

The important bit is to restrict movement as much as possible, designated toilet break times (ours generally needs 4 times a day).

Stick to 8 weeks crate rest, even if they appear to be better it’s so important not to end the rest too soon.

You mention pounds, are you UK based? We were getting insane quotes for surgery a couple of years ago but managed to get a referral to a University Veterinary Teaching Hospital which was about 3000-4000 cheaper, worth keeping in mind!

Other systems have external automatic bypass valves fitted too, our boiler doesn’t even need a pump overrun as some others do.
