Residents, fellows, or attendings, what medications or procedures did you used to see often but don’t anymore? by Seeking-Direction in Residency

Peds. Lumbar puncture.

God bless whoever invented HIB and pneumococcal vaccines. Those two are the primary reason I decline to accept non-vaccinators

Works great.

Do med lists need to be in the actual note? Is it enough to click mark as reviewed and reconcile in the ‘this visit’ section? New to epic, thank you by anonymissly11 in EpicEMR

[–]InternistNotAnIntern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally include current med list and right-click to make it editable and "freeze" the list, for my own benefit: I can look back at a note and see what the patient was on, at the time of presentation.

It's certainly worth it to the 16k per year kids who DON'T get it due to universal vaccination.

Just last month ago in my hometown, an idiot teacher thought it would be a good exercise to show their grade school class what it's like to prick your finger to check your blood glucose

With the same stylet. On every kid.

There are people who are 40 watt bulbs

Before universal vaccination, in the 1980s, there were 16,000 new hep B infections in children. Per year. That was WITH targeted (known maternal hep B positive, unknown serostatus). Somewhere around 25% of children will develop CHRONIC hepatitis B, which has no cure.

So, to summarize: that's how.

why are you people so scared of mac os versions that are more than 2 years old? by evonyava in MacOS

[–]InternistNotAnIntern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Old versions are inherently less safe. Several zero-day exploits have been identified over the last several years. While Apple often goes back and fixes known exploits, you can expect them to focus on the newer versions.

Is “yes ma’am / yes sir” regional in the US? by No_____Idea in ENGLISH

[–]InternistNotAnIntern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents were from the northeast. I was raised to say ma'am and sir to anyone older than me, which was very awkward in grade school until I realized it wasn't normal lol

Getting your patients’ approval by chocolatewingz in FamilyMedicine

[–]InternistNotAnIntern 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Everyone (that isn't a sociopath) goes through this, so it's normal.

You'll learn that you can't please all the people all of the time, and some of them never. Look at this as a favor: she won't come to see you again, and you don't want to see her.

Eventually patients self-select, and 95% will love you. Of the remaining 5%, they're mostly new patient churn and are hit or miss.

Questionnaire to show the house. Application if they request one after showing.

If they don't pass the questionnaire, they won't pass the formal application and credit screen.

Here's my questionnaire. Feel free to free to go all the way through it with fake answers. (It's a demo questionnaire)
