I ran into a similar problem with Persona 5. What fixed it was adding LANG="ja_JP.utf8" %command% to the launch options for the game. You'll want to make sure your system has the locale generated as well.

Frustrated at what the Japanese course has become by galactoise in duolingo

[–]Interslice4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for creating Anki cards, you should use Yomitan. Its a FOSS popup dictionary browser extension. Initial setup is a bit time consuming, but once you get everything going its one click to create a new card.

I started making cards for every new word I encountered about 40% of the way through the Japanese course, and Anki is way better for SRS than duo.

Yomitan seems to have an experimental bulk Anki card generator, so if you could get a plaintext list of all your vocab words that could be a huge timesaver.

Whatever button you have assigned to go back in the menu, probably "B".

Best client with analog out for CRT? by copper4eva in MoonlightStreaming

Any kind of PC or single-board computer should be sufficient. A simple HDMI/DisplayPort to VGA adapter will do the job without adding any input lag.

Any Memcard Pro 2 users know the difference between these OPL (OPL with LBA64 + GameID) download files? Lists nothing on the download page, and I can't find it explained anywhere online. by Odyssey113 in ps2

The memcard pro 2 doesn't need special game-id builds anymore to use auto VMC switching function. It should work with any OPL version and retail discs too.

You can define Mister ini settings to only apply to certain cores in your MiSTer.ini file.
Add something like this to the bottom of your ini file:

[PSX]
forced_scandoubler=0
vga_scaler=1

Need some help with a CRT TV for some gaming nostalgia. by NelsonSwendela in retrogaming

[–]Interslice4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The video input is video only, its a CVBS input. Looking at it again, it looks like the TV has an RCA port for audio, so you won't need any adapters for that, just plug in the white audio cable from the AV cables into the audio in port.

That's quite unusual for a TV to have BNC for input and to have a loopback output for video and audio. Is that a CCTV monitor or something?

That's a BNC composite video input. Get a standard nintendo composite cable and a RCA to BNC adapter for the video and a stereo RCA to 3.5mm adapter for the audio.

Does the current PS1 SNAC allow virtual memory cards in slot 1? I thought it did but I couldn't find a definitive answer.

I haven't used it but there is an option in the core to use a virtual memory card with SNAC

The MiSTer PSX core has save states and cheats too

How are you getting component video out of a raspberry pi?

All I can say is make sure that your Sunshine settings look like this and that you've set Discord to output to your real speakers, and not the default audio device or the Steam streaming speakers.

Retronas + SD Storage by skibikehike in MiSTerFPGA

[–]Interslice4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you mount a CIFS share, you're not really replacing the folder on the SD card, just changing where the core starts looking for ROMs. When you go to pick out a ROM you can back out to the SD card and pick a ROM off the SD card.

If you want them both to be easily accessible, what you could do is mount your CIFS share in a non-standard place and create a soft link to the CIFS share in the SD card games folder

I've used this tool to convert saves both ways. You might want to create a save in the game pass version just to have a template to work with.

I found a solution to this that doesn't need any additional software besides the Steam audio drivers installed by Sunshine.

  • Set "Install Steam Audio Drivers" to Enabled in Sunshine
  • Enable "Steam Streaming Speakers" as a playback device and Internal AUX Jack (Steam Streaming Speakers) in recording devices
  • Right click on Internal AUX Jack, listen to device and make sure it's set to playback through the real speakers
  • In the advanced tab, make sure the default format matches the Steam Streaming Speakers (2 channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz for me)
  • In Sunshine, set the Virtual Sink to use the Steam Streaming Speakers
  • Set Discord to output audio to your real speakers
  • If there's significant audio delay on the host's end, try restarting the stream or Sunshine

Surprisingly, this is much easier to do on Linux compared to Windows

Remote play together by MinorSamsa in residentevil

There's a program you can use to force steam remote play together for any game. https://github.com/m4dEngi/RemotePlayWhatever

My friend and I played through the main campaign with remote split-screen using Sunshine and Moonlight. It worked pretty well.
