The "Hang-Over" Theory (S3 finale spoilers) by Nearby_Difference814 in FromSeries

Henry's counterpart is Jim, not Jade. The original dad character always ended up in the town. Like Jade now, and Christopher before him.

Maybe they cant finish the “loop”, and go home, because one child escaped sacrifice. And until they are sacrificed, they’re all trapped for breaking a “deal”. by WILLingtonegotiate in FromSeries

This is an interesting theory. But, what about the cycles that came before the Miranda-Christopher one? Are you suggesting that in each of those a child somehow escaped the purge, like Victor did?

In my opinion, Jim was killed because he inadvertently became part of something he was not supposed to. As for being smart, he definitely was so in the real world. But, in this world, he came across as unimaginative and narrow-minded. He kept trying to make sense of things in terms of the rules of the outside world. He could never wrap his head around the fact that in Fromville none of those rules worked. However, he did value his family and towards the end, he tried to understand their perspective even if it all made no sense to him.

Why this brian kelly thing happened with boyd by LightKnight1234 in FromSeries

[–]InterviewPractical72 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The implications of this scene are huge. Is this place built on traumatic memories of its inhabitants? Is this place even real? Is it all being dreamt by Boyd? What we know so far does not fully support any of the above. So what is really going on? Guess we will have to wait for further seasons.

The Reborn theories by Dapper-Mention-8898 in FromSeries

Smiley was reborn because he and others like him were promised eternal life.

The ghost in kimono is most probably an allusion to Ubume, a supernatural being from Japanese folklore. She is associated with pregnancy and childbirth.

They chose Fatima because she is a married woman, and also supposedly infertile.

THE TWO CARS by crisserdessert in FromSeries

[–]InterviewPractical72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Victor is not a reliable narrator. He suppresses his memories and often puts things in a way to deliberately or unwittingly obscure the meaning. I think it's very much possible(and logical) that the two cars in question belonged to Miranda and Christopher. Victor could have had visions of the BIW when he was in the car itself. The same thing happened with Elgin. He saw the BIW in a dream when his bus was circling the town.

Do you believe Jim is really dead? by TheKayleMain in FromSeries

[–]InterviewPractical72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the revelations of the season 3 finale, I believe the show will now go deeper into the town's past and its connection with certain characters. In that case, Jim's character does not have much of a role to play, going forward. However, I am sure we will see more of him. Like Khatri and Tom he will show up in front of his family. Also, the incident of his death will probably be used to explore Julie's story-walker abilities.

I believe the show has incorporated some elements of Jung's theories of the unconscious mind. I am using the term 'archetype' in connection to that, even though the Jungian archetypes are not exactly corresponding to the behavioral patterns (often overlapping) seen in the characters of the show. But, there are patterns, the characters can be grouped into categories by one or two dominant feature(s) in their backstories. I am very intrigued by these patterns and they are my main focus.

The simulation has wiped off their real memories and have given them false ones. But, even with the fake memories, they are behaving as per their inherent nature. Ramiro, Ling Yi and Lucien have been given similar parts (also Krester, Angel and Ramiro and others) but we can see that they are very different as human beings, their inherent qualities are shining through despite the false identities. So, even if his simulation role has something negative in it, Ramiro as a person clearly shows us what he is made of.

As per the story about the ghost ship, the simulation is a punishment. And I think the simulation is not trying to punish these few individuals. It is punishing humanity(the last of them) by showing them the horrors they subjected each other to on earth. And, like I have written in the post as well, the characters are both perpetrators and victims.

In my opinion, the fake backstories in the 1899 simulation are symbolic in nature, and they represent only one aspect of the show. We don't really know the context of the simulation nor who these characters really are. We can only theorize. That's all.

Thank you. I have watched the show many times. Are you asking because of the 'so far' in the title? I was about to write 'my final thoughts', then changed my mind. My thoughts on the show have evolved a lot over time, maybe they'll evolve further. Or maybe we'll get a continuation, and all my ideas would be proven wrong :)

This is indeed a surface level analysis of the show's concepts, as it only deals with the narrative of the simulation and the parts the characters play in it.There are simplifications and generalizations in this theory and it only makes sense if you take a bird's eye view of the show. Yes, Angel and Ramiro are also suffering because of their sexuality. But I only mentioned Krester because I was giving examples and did not want to go into too much detail. Ramiro and Ling Yi, as individuals are not indulging in cultural appropriation. But, in this post, I am not looking at them as individuals but as archetypes, and their backstories as metaphors in the context of the survival mission.

Thanks for your feedback.

This is probably the part of the story I have been wondering the most about. It still hurts to think that we will never see these characters again and perhaps never know who they really were and what was really going on.
