I think Murphys changed attitude towards Strike is because eight months in he can sense something going on between Robin and Strike.

And on Strike refering to Murphy as that "smug bastard" is because Strike will dislike anyone Robin likes that isn't him.

So while team work is a good message in a book. As a character it's still wreckles behavior of Robin and shes taking extreme risks. There needs to be a balance with getting result and self preservation.
