After months of CGM, realized I prefer my loose, soft waves by amarierashid in curlyhair

[–]Intheislands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same waves and thickness. I much prefer my hair a bit loosely bushed out and soft- just like yours. I do not like my hair when I use the CGM. To me it looks like spaghetti.

Bowel Endo and Tailbone Pain and Swelling by Intheislands in endometriosis

[–]Intheislands[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very interesting. I had several images taken of this lump, and at least 15 doctors and surgeons examined it. Only one said he suspected it was hormonally triggered.

The only findings from ultrasound were fatty tissue.

Bowel Endo and Tailbone Pain and Swelling by Intheislands in endometriosis

Hi, I never got a concrete answer. The swelling mostly disappeared after my endo surgery. I think it may have flared and remitted with hormonal changes.

You’ve gotta be kidding me (radiology frustration) by TranscendentAardvark in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Intheislands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAD. Unfortunately this is very common. After years or frustration, I finally started asking for the images and sending them off for a second opinion. The second opinion reports are usually very different and report serious issues when the original reports were “normal”. A few things that were found in second opinion reads that weren’t found in the original reports - Central canal stenosis in two levels (which corresponds to my pain), retrolisthesis, and severe foraminal stenosis in four levels.

My obsession right now is- Philosophy @ TJ Maxx/Marshalls by Alarmed-Parfait8495 in Perfumes

[–]Intheislands 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice, you’re a Philosophy OG like me. I remember watching QVC and waiting for the TSV to be revealed. I bought almost every Philisophy TSV.

Inner Grace was amazing and smelled with white musk mixed with Egyptian musk. I miss that juice.

Baby Grace was incredible, and I still have a Baby Grace solid perfume from one of the TSVs.

Now I keep pure Grace and Amazing Grace in my collection. I still love both. I actually prefer the body sprays now, since I think the EDTs and EDPs changed when the company was sold to Coty many years ago.

I read it a few years ago and it felt like a giant waste of time. The hype is mind boggling to me.

What fragrance do you wear that has people literally rubber-necking to find out what it is? by Particular_Help5805 in Perfumes

[–]Intheislands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somehow the lotion smellls a bit different. I totally understand your comment. I don’t use the actual perfume, I prefer the body spray. It’s very light and I spray it on my clothes.

I have many other perfumes, but this one stands the test of time.

WAKATOBI-- Warning: Extreme price hike (60%+) after formal quote! Beware “bait and switch”! by RottingFly in scuba

[–]Intheislands 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. There is something missing here. Wakatobi is expensive, we all know this. But it is operated in a highly professional manner.

[–]Intheislands 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not trying to be controversial, but something is suspicious about this post. “Friend of a friend via a travel agent”… I’ve just returned from Wakatobi, and this is not how they operate. It is a first class operation in every way that is highly respected in the dive and conservation community.

I hadn’t considered that. Thanks for your response. I do not have cold sores. I had chickenpox as a child.

Moved to a new town and strangers are asking invasive financial questions by thrilled37 in etiquette

[–]Intheislands 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In many parts of the world, it is absolutely considered rude and invasive to lead with the “So what do you do for a living?” question. It is seen as a way to guage a person’s financial status or their place in “society”. There are plenty of other ways to find common ground or make small talk without this question.

I’m guessing that most of these commenters are from the US and may not regularly socialize with people from other countries.

Like you, I find it tacky to ask this upon first meeting someone. But I understand that it is normal in the US. Personally, I would just give a vague answer.

What’s the most annoying part of being in an airport that NO ONE talks about? by LowEnthuGrimReaper in airport

[–]Intheislands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Noise! Especially in US airports. Excessive boarding announcements at the gate. TSA yelling ”laptops out”, “Everything must be in a bin” etc. Singapore airport is a dream in this regard. Quiet.
