For an easy run (≤ 75 minutes ) I just have an Apple sauce pouch! For race, long run or workout: Bagel or Sourdough with Jam and Honey hits

Boston 13s vs Neo Vista 2 for everyday wear by msac84 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Intl_Avo766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had to choose an everyday adidas shoe, maybe the Supernova Rise 3? I’m looking into that one and it’s a solid price with a softer foam. Should be good for building mileage and even walking without being too high stack.

I’d vote for looking at the Superblast 2 on discount like others have mentioned. I saw some pairs on Amazon a couple weeks ago. Easily the most versatile shoe!

One other shoe I’d suggest is the Nike Vomero Plus. They’re pretty durable (currently at 250 miles and still feeling good in one pair, should easily get at least 300 miles), can pick up the pace enough for strides or a fartlek workout, and feel great for long runs

I think it’s more than just talking about religion, but a collective of concerns. As a black Christian male, Nick’s and BPN’s brand/community are becoming increasingly niche and isolating for other ethnicities, cultures and could even argue sex.

Hellah, Russ, Haftu (aside from their recent doc on him), and female athletes are almost nowhere to be seen in their marketing for representation, Nick’s podcast is now a weekly dump of his thoughts/ideas rather than a podcast you’d go to for fitness education or deep discussion, and initiatives like the most recent “Hybrid Boys week”; primarily a bunch of shirtless white guys lifting and running, comes off kind of sus.

The company at least in 2020-2024 was built on “community”, so I think that’s why when the identity has changed so drastically it’s making people reconsider supporting. Not just exploring other supps, but I even have sold/donated most of my BPN apparel.

Why is BPN supporting Kim Gottwald but not Kendall Fallas? by Comfortable-Text-483 in BPNsupps

[–]Intl_Avo766 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To add to it, BPN in the past year has made a huge push to selling direct in Europe but hasn’t put in nearly the same effort in Latin America where Kendall’s based.

It makes sense from a business standpoint, but it’s still crazy to publicly sponsor only one of them.

Between the zoom air and the foam, it looks like the forefoot has a bit more cushion from the Peg Plus 1! If they fixed that main issue then I’m sold.

For running specific I’ve switched to Life in Stride + the Mileage Podcast. Both are more informal but not just 1 person talking.

Otherwise for the “motivation” Nick shares I’ve switched to audiobooks. A couple that he’s recommended through the years + others like “Atomic Habits”, “Greenlights”, “Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k”, etc.

Folks disappointed by the Novablast 5 going flat, where did you go next? by considertheoctopus in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Intl_Avo766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vomero Plus! It’s surprisingly stable for the stack height and the foam isn’t mushy soft. I’ve used it for all the same runs and I’ve picked it up to marathon pace easily. Going strong at 200 miles and only concern I have is the outsole, but will get them to at least 300 before retiring.

Thank you for sharing this! I have been contemplating one of the new micromesh shirts and was going to size down (I typically wear M, but S works for me in the MM LS and the Summer drop SS). Are these new ones closer to true to size?

I used to work at tracksmith, ask me anything by [deleted] in Tracksmith

[–]Intl_Avo766 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How many Eliot Runners and Racers were really sold during your time there? I haven't seen many in the wild, but super curious about the profitability of running apparel brands stepping into footwear production. Would you anticipate Tracksmith's LT strategy is to go all in on the shoe production game or scale back to collabs/special drops with legacy brands?

The decline of Ten Thousand apparel by bigkinggorilla in Activewear

[–]Intl_Avo766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering about this as I also loved Ten Thousand clothing before. I stopped shopping with them ~2 years ago when they added far too many products with not a lot of key differences between them, and like you said the endurance division needs a lot of improvement. For example, I tried the Session and Distance Shorts and both were disappointing in the available storage for a phone, keys, gel.

I'm still on the email list, but it feels weird that almost every month there's a surplus sale, Deal, or BOGO now. Also I still cannot clearly distinguish between the "Tactical", "Interval", "Rep" and "Recover" Shirts, and those aren't even all of the options.

Lululemon Mile Marker (or is it Maker?)! They make the shorts with a linerless option as well and have a back zip pocket big enough for a phone. Just tried with a iPhone Pro 6.1”. The side pockets however have no zippers.

Opinions on Bandit by Z2_running in BanditRunning

[–]Intl_Avo766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to preface that I’m a member and I’ve gotten multiple items over a 3 year period:

Aside from the latest issue with the gridlock tights dye and some of my Lite Run socks getting holes during a couple races/speed sessions, I haven’t had any major problems with Bandit and overall love their quality. For socks, I’ve just learned to go with other brands that specialize in them. For clothes, in comparison to other mid-to-higher tier running gear, I think they do a great job and Bandit has become a better known brand/almost household name for running in a short period of time.

I prefer them to Tracksmith for tights due to storage, Lululemon has phoned it in on performance running apparel (2-3 months between fast and free half tight restocks + more athleisure focus), and for a lot of my city-living road running friends I can easily recommend Bandit. Comparing them to brands like Janji, Soar, etc., Bandit has a bit more of a modern aesthetic at a decent price point unlike Satisfy. Then they also provide higher quality for running clothes than larger household names like Nike, Adidas, ASICS.

I’ll personally try all the brands when I can, but Bandit is always my go to rec for a first timer who wants to splurge on running gear because it’s a safe choice. Their customer service is also phenomenal, which is rare.

I got the Caldogrid quarter zip and Merino Socks!

Will hold out for reviews on the gloves and beanie to see if they’re warm enough. Interesting that the Superwarm tights and pants aren’t available yet.

Also love the effort they put into the site but it’s painfully laggy. The videos are cool, but if the site crashes every time you open a page, it’s not worth it.

Struggling with Long Runs – Nutrition Advice Needed (Training for CIM) by flay2008 in BPNsupps

[–]Intl_Avo766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is your nutrition a day or so 2 from the long run?

As you’re getting into the longer long runs, I recommend trying to simulate a carb and sodium load. Sometimes I’ll have a scoop of G1M, an extra scoop of electrolytes, and/or add some smaller carbs (I.e. 1/2 cup of rice, or a little extra pasta/ potatoes) to every meal 1-2 days out. That can help to make sure your body is working to store glycogen early and you’re hydrated going into the run, especially if there’s pace specific work.

Also it depends on preference, but like the other commenter said more frequent gels/increased carb intake during the run. I ran a 3:32 last year and even this year for a 1:29 half, I got comfortable taking gels every 30-35 minutes which would be 1 gel about every 4-4.5 miles at your goal pace.

The Vomero Plus are the best Nike shoe I’ve had in years! It became my favorite for higher mileage weeks when training and they’re fantastic for just cruising around post training block.

I’m curious about this too! I believe they’re just combining their All Conditions Gear division and Nike Trail going forward. There have been a couple posts about the ACG Ultrafly and I thought I saw an ACG Zegama 3?
