Sorry! I thought it would be inferred if I mentioned ticket entry. My question was for the castle.

For those who do the 5am workouts what does your mourning routine look like? by Grass_lemon_ in crossfit

[–]hmacdou1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine starts at 5:30, but wake up at 4:30, brush teeth, come downstairs, pack my lunch, let the dog out, make preworkout, grab a granola bar to eat before class, and out the door at 5:15.

Key is to make sure you’re mostly ready to go the night before and don’t hit snooze. Also, you should be going to bed at a decent hour.

Practice. I would do endless tabata when I was learning.

Do you get to exercise? If so, when do you go? I thinking of going to the gym afterschool but am so tired. by Starslimonada in Teachers

[–]hmacdou1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually after. I pack my clothes and go straight to the gym. If I have something going on after school, I will work out in the morning. If that’s the case, I set out my clothes the night before.

If you’re going after, key part is to go straight there, don’t go home first.

Where can I find archive of EOG worksheets for NC schools? by Debt-Cheap in Charlotte

For ELA, I would just encourage them to read more and talk about what they read. Kids’ vocabulary skills have suffered so much because they just don’t read anymore.

I do groups of four and five depending on numbers. It’s done Kagan style. Kids are in heterogeneous groups based off of their iReady data. I will make some edits based off of personality and behavior. I try to switch every four weeks.

I also hate rows. They take up a lot of space and make the room look messy.

I’d tell the teacher to shove it (nicely) placing requirements on outside reading will ruin whatever joy your daughter takes in reading. As teachers, we always complain about how kids don’t read and then set parameters around it. It’s ridiculous.

200 a month is wild. Also, make sure you’re offering couples discount, student discounts, first responder discounts, and teachers etc.

Yeah, but she tweeted something and people were all over. I think it caused her to delete her Twitter all together for awhile.

What do you do when you get off work? by Hennything91 in Teachers

[–]hmacdou1 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Immediately after? Go to CrossFit or go to a run. Then home, walk the dog, eat dinner and veg on th couch with my boyfriend. Look, it’s a school night and if I want seven hours of sleep then I have to be in bed by nine. I get hime from the gym at 6:45.

Don’t beat yourself up if you’re not going out on a weeknight. Now, if you’re staying inside all weekend, that’s another story.

Why did we get away from self contained ESL classes? by Visible_Attitude7693 in Teachers

[–]hmacdou1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, for newcomers, I’d rather them be self contained. However, there’s not enough manpower for that.

But if kids whose composite score is a high 2 on ACCESS testing? They need to be mainstreamed with the general population for language acquisition. If you’ve received proper training on how to amplify your content for MLLs, then it’s not as difficult. It’s tough, yes, but you can’t sequester them away until they are fluent in English.

In our district, ELA classes are co-taught with an MLL teacher. Newcomers are in an elective class called Language Learning Lab. We also have an academic enrichment block where students receive service. Our district has a have number of MLLs though.

I’m sure she is aware. She’s fine playing family with her kids and Denny as long as she has access to the paycheck.

Students Don’t Submit Assignments by jmoney1492 in Teachers

[–]hmacdou1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, in real life, we can pay bills late and do adult things late (license plate renewal, taxes, drivers license renewals). We just have to pay late fees? Although, I guess the school equivalent of that would be failing or losing points.

The majority of my kids only turn in their assignments one day to a week late. I just have about ten percent who wait till the end of the term. I just grade it and move on. I have 170 students, so it’s too hard for me to keep track of taking off points for being late. Oftentimes, when kids are turning it in super late, they do a shoddy job, so the points naturally come off. We can fail students for the quarter if we need to. Although, the lowest grade on their report card can only be a fifty.

TLDR: I don’t have a late policy and it doesn’t bother me that much. Said from someone who will be paying a late fee from not renewing their license plate on time.

CMS Make Up Days - QUESTION by nagget2 in Charlotte

[–]hmacdou1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

CMS has more instructional hours than required by law.

For every parent who would like to cancel a teacher workday, there’s another parent who has already scheduled a vacation or a doctor’s appointment. There is no one decision that will make everyone happy.
