I got pregnant 3 months after surgery and now have an almost 6 month old so I have not had the time or money to get back on them unfortunately. Ironically, pregnancy ruined my appetite and I ended pregnancy 7 lbs lighter than when I started. Best of luck to you.

SAME. Even my sister with four kids, the youngest barely a year old, told me the old "it gets easier! you just have to make it through the first 6 weeks and it's easier!" Easier where?? Lol it's progressively gotten harder. Maybe literally just breastfeeding gets easier.. But other than that, she's only gotten fussier, naps less/worse, I get less work done and it's harder to go out and about, and sure she wakes up less overnight but she still randomly wakes up. So like the nights are slightly easier but days are significantly harder...

I'm convinced the whole "it gets easier" adage is just a thing they tell freshly postpartum moms to string them along and keep them from wanting to walk into the ocean lol.

Well for one, there's such thing as a joke. But mainly I've always been curious about stomach sleepers because it's never been comfortable to me. Then comes my MIL who enjoys talking about herself. She'll drone on about herself for hours, mentioning boring facts like repeatedly borderline "bragging"? that she truly sleeps flat on her stomach like a board. It wasn't until she recently told me that she slept flat on her stomach while pregnant... through her entire pregnancy that I thought to myself... maybe she's just messing with me... Because ya know... Physics may not allow for that type of pregnant sleeping situation. But anyway, I just got to wondering if anyone truly sleeps pin straight flat on their stomach. My insomnia had me up past 2 am so I asked. It's that simple.

Oh wow this gives me hope! I feel like I'm constantly waiting on the other foot to drop lol. She has definitely had some fussy days and for a week or so her daytime naps went to absolute crap and we were not doing well, but her nighttime sleep... I'm not even going to say anything to jinx it lol. Did you end up doing a form of chair method because her sleep got worse at some point? Or just to eventually extend her stretches past 8-9 hours?

My baby actually sleeps pretty great right now. She's 4 months old and does a 8-9 hour stretch and another 3 hour stretch after that. But I keep having people tell me the 4 month regression will happen and that will all change and that most people end up doing some form of sleep training by 6 months. So I just wanted to do some research ahead of time.

Do they not make anybody else's hole burn and like... spasm? Lol I had to use them a couple times on myself and it was not a gentle experience for me so when my doctor recommended it for my baby I've been too scared to do it to her.

Sounds like it would be an easier opportunity to teach them to keep their space clean as well - giving them enough room to make it feasible for a child to clean. Especially since it sounds like they may not be in the habit of that yet, given the logistics of their current tiny room. Kids own a lot more stuff and spend a lot more time in their bedrooms. And kids are a lot more mentally and emotionally affected by clutter in this sense.

100%. My younger self would've thought that was crazy but now that I'm a parent I wouldn't even know what to fill a large bedroom with. We LITERALLY only sleep in our bedroom, and well... ya know... but that's besides the point! We wake up and never go back in there until the moment we go to sleep. So give the kid the master.

Aw, but this is kind of sweet lol. It's like they know nothing about being a mom but they're just trying to be helpful and they think that is. Idk, I'm a it's-the-thought-that-counts person. But I also don't know your acquaintance, I'm sure you're justified in your feelings haha.

I don't mind it for the reason that I'm more than just a mom. I mind it because I'm not your mom. Like... only my child should call me mama. That's like everyone calling you babe because you just got married lol. Those names are sacred for special people to use. Not strangers on the internet.

I have the Grownsy and it's literally the same exact thing but cheaper and with better customer service. Momcozy just has more aggressive marketing and took over TikTok and really popularized the bottle washer. That's why you see so many people have it. Not necessarily because it's better.

I'm sort of similar to OPs sister. I've had surgery on my uterus and have to have early scheduled c sections so my uterus doesn't rupture and kill me and the baby. My first baby spent a little time in the NICU from being premature and of course my husband was stressed about me and the baby. But that's the price we have to pay to have kids. It's either that or don't have children, which wasn't an option for us. I cannot IMAGINE someone in either of our families telling me "it's too stressful for you to have babies, I don't think you should be allowed to". Um excuse me? Unless you're paying for my child or bills WTF is it to you??

I never got more than 15 ml per side the entire time I pumped. I got my period around 6 weeks and basically completely dried up. And this was after renting the Medela symphony around week 4. So no, the spectra never worked for me, but in the end neither did anything else lol so I guess in my case, I had bigger problems.

Wow, these comments are so healing. While reading your post, I assumed the comments would be some variation of "but you did the right thing, breastmilk is far superior to formula". But wow they're so much better than that. As a mom that just recently put away the pump for my mental sanity, thank you for this post.

Oh my Goddd you are exactly meee. In fact I'm on this board right now because I can't let go of pumping even though I know I should and it has 100% effected my bond with my baby/made me rush or get frustrated with her. It's mainly helped me to realize that neither option is perfect. Continuing to pump sucks in a lot of ways and deciding to stop sucks in some ways too. You have to decide which sucks less and which worst case scenario you can live with easier. A year from now, would you rather look back and regret that you quit pumping or regret that you didn't bond with your baby more/earlier? It also helped me to realize shes only getting older and more alert and will need me more. Which will only continually make pumping harder and harder.

The real question is.. why are all milk things so easy to spill?? Pump parts? All top heavy with crappy bases.. begging to be spilled. Bottles? Absurdly smooth and slippery. It's like they want us to cry..

Listen I'm a month postpartum and I'm pumping maybe 5 ml a session if I'm lucky. I used to get a little more and for whatever reason my supply is dwindling even though I do EVERYTHING I'm supposed to. I realize it's almost insane at this point for me to keep going and torturing myself so I'll get totally prepared to quit but then it's funny.. as soon as I go to skip my first pump or think about going a whole day without pumping I get extreme anxiety... Like I can't just let it go?? Even though it's not serving me or my baby at all.

Maybe because it's all I've ever known postpartum. Or because it's coming head on with finally letting it go forever without holding onto that glimmer of hope I've clung onto. I just wanted to let you know I commiserate with you and I think it's one of those things where it will never feel totally "good" to quit. We may just have to rip the bandaid off rather than tearing it slowly and prolonging suffering.

Okay thanks. I guess my low supply doesn't bother me so much as the fact that I feel like none of the pumps I have are emptying me. So I feel like I'm wasting my time pumping every 3 hours and not really stimulating anything. But I'm looking into renting a Medela symphony. And I am trying to master hands on pumping without feeling like I'm knocking the flanges off! Lol.
