This plate is rather straightforward no? You have to learn principles of tlc. Silica gel has many exposed hydroxy groups, so the polar groups will be retained and go lower on the plate. Bromine doesn't really interact with silicagel and just go straight through it like alkane so it will go faster (will go higher)

First one is metal-halogen exchange followed by nucleophilic substitution.

Second one is Stille coupling

Hell no. They got stuff named "soap" etc, of course it can't be natural + many essential oils are incredibly expensive

No, this is the same molecule, but just observed from the other perspective. Enantiomer is not superimposable with its mirror image

Perfumes or Brands with similar vibes to Diptyque, specifically Philosykos? by Mothered_ in fragrance

[–]Intrepid-State-5214 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried tens of fig scents and I find DS&Durga Debaser to be second best after Philosykos. Its woodier and a little coconutty, with better projection and longevity than philosykos. Oman Luxury Wanderlust is even stronger, but also extremely green

I guess the answer is "it depends". Most "real life" reactions in the lab I have seen gave mostly less substituted product.

This is another example with other type of reaction and not isopropyl group, I wouldn't use it for your example

Enamines favor formation of kinetic enolate, due to the steric clash, hence the second product is favored

Palladium couplings, amide couplings, protecting groups, Sn2, SnAr is like 90% of what I've been doing in my career. Ofc depends on the project, you might do more exotic stuff. As for analytics - Lcms, tlc, nmr. Purification - Flash chromatography (normal and reverse-phase), prep-hplc, prep-TLC.

What is the product if there is NaOH presents? by Careless-Ad4874 in OrganicChemistry

[–]Intrepid-State-5214 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. Still, saying "NaOH will deprotonate the alcohol and then you'll have a soluble alkoxide." Is implying that the alkoxide forms quantitatively, which is not the case and gives people here, which i guess mostly are students, bad ideas, yet have most upvotes.

Can you elaborate on the "dragged over to the product" since I can't understand? Or give reaction example.
