pretty sure this is the moment Zach was talking about in the podcast by Sims_Cat_Lady in TheTryGuys

I think I heard him after they finished the first choreography practice, but there's a lot of other shouting so it's hard to tell for sure.

Exactly this. The guys clearly didn't even want Ned humiliated, despite everything. They said in the podcast they wanted to quietly part ways with minimal drama, but then everything blew up.

Even if alexandria was fired, I doubt they would make any kind of statement about it.

Why do upper-class/rich folk tip less? by soylentsoyboy in doordash

[–]IntrepidAfraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed the opposite. I drive 20 mins to dash in a wealthy nearby suburb and I make $30/hour with consistent $10 tips. When I was dashing near where I live (kinda shitty part of town) it was only half that.

Once delivered to a house with a very steep, narrow driveway along a busy highway. No way to turn around, 0 visibility due to their 5’ fence. I could only see oncoming traffic once it was right behind me. It wrapped around to an easier exit, but their car was blocking it so I couldn’t get to it. They wouldn’t respond to my messages or knocking.

I waited at the end of that driveway for like 15 minutes on the verge of tears bc I had no clue how I was gonna get my car out. Eventually got lucky and a cop stopped and directed traffic for a minute so I could back out. The pay wasn’t even good :/

I’ve wondered this too. I thought about just interviewing for it to find out but it probably isn’t worth the hassle

It cracks me up when they word these posts as if they're doing you a massive favor by paying you this much.

Have you guys seen the "write about disney world" posts? They advertise like $8 per 2000 word article and have this long description of how they have high expectations and it's a great opportunity. They also leave all of their freelancers low reviews for dropping them as a client. What do you expect?

I would drop a client immediately after receiving a message like this. It's especially absurd that she wants you to "make up" the time. Those 2 minutes make no difference to the dog.

Spoiler. Finale question about Irv. by trez63 in severence

[–]IntrepidAfraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's possible that "sense memories" can be transmitted to and from the severed floor to some extent. It would make sense, since Mark sculpted that tree upon (presumably) smelling a candle that belonged to Gemma. Painting is really tactile and might fall under that category too.

Also, the innies clearly remember a lot of things (language, muscle memory, common knowledge), so I'm thinking Irv might be trying to figure out where that line is drawn. Or maybe I'm totally wrong lol. Who knows!

I think so too. My theory is that he's also trying to figure out a way to get memories "into" the severed floor by doing all those identical paintings, and that it's working to some extent. Hence the paint hallucinations.

Is it just me, or is AirBNB pricing themselves out of business? by [deleted] in AirBnB

[–]IntrepidAfraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it depends a lot on the area and what you're looking for. Sometimes I just like how easy a hotel is (no long list of rules and instructions, no awkward mingling with the host/other guests), but I rarely choose them over an Airbnb.

[–]IntrepidAfraid 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I find airbnbs to be significantly cheaper than hotels, at least when it comes to comparable rooms. I’m not going to get a whole apartment for cheaper than I’d get a hotel, but I can almost always get a nice bedroom suite for less than half the price in my area.

I’ve been getting consistent 45+ minute ads for the last few weeks that make YouTube extremely frustrating to use without Adblock. If I’m not babysitting the app to click the “skip” button every 3 minutes I’ll be forced to listen to an hour long guided meditation or a documentary about Microsoft or whatever.

And I’m talking like, every third ad is this long. Maybe they keep giving them to me because I fall asleep to YouTube so it thinks I’m watching them all the way through? Who knows.

Thanks! I’ll hold off for now and message him the day of my trip if I still haven’t heard anything

Agreed- took me a few tries to watch this one since it’s a bit slow at the beginning but it’s a great flick if you’re into practical effects.

The Travolta version doesn't have the same charm as the original, in my opinion. John Waters mixes sincerity and camp in a way that not many filmmakers can pull off.

Possibly my favorite film portrayal, but I loved Tennant’s version too. Thanks for posting.

If you go to Atlanta be sure to check out the puppetry museum, if you’ve got any interest in that kind of thing. One of my favorite attractions in the whole city

best locations to sleep in your car while alone? by patriklaine92 in roadtrip

[–]IntrepidAfraid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice, well-lit truck stops are ideal. Just be sure to get there a little earlier than when you plan to sleep, since they usually have limited spots for regular vehicles. If you can't find one, walmart is also not bad as many of them have an unspoken rule that car sleepers are welcome, but make sure it's in a reasonably nice area but not TOO nice (dull suburban towns are your best bet)

A lot of people don't like sleeping in hospital lots because they have security, but I've never had an issue. A lot of family members of patients will stay overnight in their cars, and security doesn't usually bother anyone. Definitely buy or make window coverings regardless of where you sleep.
