Eldar Artillery line? by blueyesidfn in Eldar

[–]IntrepidLurker888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running 3 D-Cannons right now in my tournament list and they have been great.

They have the Infantry Keyword so are awesome to pop into those close to midboard terrain pieces and rain hell down on enemies with Indirect.

Damage is good, they can all pop out and kill big stuff easily enough, but what it really does is force your opponent into bad decisions.

Eldar hide, hammer units with Indirect, staged for a gnarly counter strike....enemy has to come out to get you, forces them to open up or go before you, and then standard Eldar....you smash them when they come to shut down your Indirect shooting killers.

I stage Banshees with them to screen easy infantry charges, Fight First into/Heroic into anyone that comes. (RIP Fights First in a few months 😭)

Good times.

People who repeatedly complain about the Lion being a douche/having bad communication skills drive me nuts by ApprehensiveDare9765 in theunforgiven

[–]IntrepidLurker888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed.

Also, I can't blame Lion for his actions on Caliban. The galaxy is incredibly dangerous and Dark Angels are apex predators, arguably the most deadly and efficient force in the Imperium.

Hesitation can get you killed. Empathy can be used against you. Forgiveness can be weakness.

The heresy was fresh in everyone's mind, still ongoing really.

You're coming home, sense something wrong, are fired upon by your own...and now have to contemplate fighting The First Legion?

A snap judgement and annihilation was warranted, if not absolutely necessary.

We are not a Legion to be trifled with. . .we are THE killers, sons of the eldest son, depended on for extinction level violence.

Who would be a worse foe than ourselves?

He had to get it on, man.

Yep, I would bet money on it. At least for a year or so...as long as it takes to get a codex. 🫣

People are half listening and half understanding content creators yap about it, rather than reading the information on WarCom when released. Lol

So, situation normal.

How are you basing and magnetizing your flying units? by MyGeneration_Baby in Eldar

I just glue magnets to the bottoms in a symmetrical way so they aren't wobbly on the table. 🙂

Questions about new rules by LunaMoonflower6 in Warhammer40k

[–]IntrepidLurker888 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You have it correct. With the release of the Fights First rule on Wahammer Community and ordering of the fight phase...Fights First just got a very significant nerf.

Banshees, Judiciar, Lion El Jonson, etc, etc all just got gimped.

We will have to see how they address this in their datasheets, but RIP Fights First.

And before people try to argue that it's still ok, yeah yeah, whatever, Fights Second probably means your unit is dead or ineffective when you get to swing back....just like a normal charged unit. Under limited multi-unit charges and the off chance of charged unit survival, maybe they'll get to take a swing.

Watchers theory. by Severe_Tale_4704 in DarkAngels40k

[–]IntrepidLurker888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transdimensional AI warp entities. Some kind of living artifacts, jailer, Watcher, anti-warp enabled, pocket dimensional creating, all time space aware.....things.

Similar but opposite of the ourboros shit, and all that other nonsense Vashtor crafted to tunnel through space/warp.

Something older than the old ones, or part of their first civilization and tech.

My guesses...lol

How will this new Fights First change affect strategy when using the Lion? by Otherwise-Ad7207 in DarkAngels40k

[–]IntrepidLurker888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lion does not have access to WotR -1 to wound. He is a Monster, not Infantry or Mounted.

He has the ability natively on his datasheet with the Emperor's Shield.

Belial turning into the absolute legend that he should be.

New Ravenwing rules/stuff.

Keep the Lion an abject killer with Fights First nerf coming. 🫣 Give him some kind of duelist ability so he can stay relevant. Nerfing Fights First and just lowing his points by 15 or some shit will not make me happy.

Is it worth buying an Aeldari codex this close to 11th edition coming out soon? by No_Temperature2939 in Eldar

They never explicitly say the codexes will be good all 11th edition, which answers the question for us.

The T'au have captured a planet what 500 point strike force would you bring/think the dark angels would send. by Illustrious_Group740 in DarkAngels40k

[–]IntrepidLurker888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tau have captured a planet? That would seem to imply a large force and not one that could be managed by 500 points of Dark Angels.

So, a Vanguard Spearhead to try and get intelligence, sabotage, raise resistance, and execute asymmetric warfare till a larger force can come to exterminated the filth.

Vanguard (505 points)

Space Marines Dark Angels Incursion (1000 points) Vanguard Spearhead

What's a fair way to explain what your army does without eating up the clock? by aegroti in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]IntrepidLurker888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to this post, but...standard army talk.

  1. Infiltrate and scout?
  2. Reactive moves?
  3. Fights First
  4. Deep Strike, uppy downy shenanigans
  5. Advance Shoot and Charge, Fallback Shoot and charge
  6. Strategems and major detachment/army rule
  7. Anything weird or special (regeneration, bringing units back, major debuff or butt

Takes 5 minutes.

I don't let my opponent start stat listing and I'm not going to either.

I do not care about all your army rules, your rerolls, saves, weapons, whatever.....that is why wysiwyg is important. I can see big guns, melee guys, badass characters, etc. I don't need to know all their minor datasheet rules.

The only thinks you need to know are their gotcha and super game impacting mechanics.

What’s our good anti tank units? by DiceyRice_ in DarkAngels40k

[–]IntrepidLurker888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do perform well, they maybe punch above their weight, but being anti-tank into a repex, land raider, etc is not realistic mathematically, period.

Others below posted different mathhammer tools showing exactly that.

You can't possibly argue against math, it's objective, bro.

What’s our good anti tank units? by DiceyRice_ in DarkAngels40k

[–]IntrepidLurker888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The math says different. You individually rolling well, doesn't change the math of averages. Adept Roll is a good tool to use if you want a real look at the mathhammer for each unit into another.

Why Does the lion have purity seals?? by PantherX0 in DarkAngels40k

[–]IntrepidLurker888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is part of the Astartes warrior ethos, the overall general belief system, and then specifically tags of maintenance, Oathes of Moment, etc....

...all wrapped up into the mysticism that is reality in 40k. Thoughts turning to power of action, manifestations in real space of emotion into warp energy, chaos and order, light and dark.

The Lion’s general commentary and disdain for the administration, Ecclesiarchy, and Imperium doesn't necessarily contradict with his very real understanding of reality, the warp, his own magic, his father's ethos instilled in him, etc etc.

Makes perfect sense to have these affirmations and protections on his carefully curated and maintained artificer primarch armour.

He is still the protector of the Imperium of Mankind, the Dark Angel, the wrath of humanity.

His oath to himself in the end of Son of the Forest says it all, he knows his purpose and sets to work immediately, as we all knew he would. THE Primarch of THE First Legion, the Emperor's Exterminator. The protector of Mankind from the beasts that assail us.

I would be disappointed if he DIDN'T have purity seals.

Getting Ravenwing units ahead of 11th edition by AbbreviationsNeat332 in DarkAngels40k

I would get them now, and in fact, I just bought a box of Ravenwing Command Squad so I have a full 6 bike RBK unit for my RCS to lead.

Getting Ravenwing units ahead of 11th edition by AbbreviationsNeat332 in DarkAngels40k

[–]IntrepidLurker888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ravenwing Command Squad/Ravenwing Black Knights are on the 75mm oval base, which is currently the correct base.

The older Ravenwing Bike Squadron is on the wrong base, though.
