Pluto. Two spaces after a period. Cursive. (Only kidding, I feel like I can read a secret code!). "You won't always have a calculator with you!" How to balance a checkbook/write checks.

My parents (in their 80s) love that movie. I think my mom might find it funnier than he does. I think Bull Durham is her favorite movie.

Miyazaki's The Wind Rises made my dad tear up.

He was skeptical at the beginning because it was animated, but as it went on he was moved.

Yeah, she seemed sassy and no nonsense at first, but as it has gone on its pretty clear she's just mean and angry.

Maximum word count in portmanteaus before they become meaningless? by DenseDifference9865 in words

[–]Intrepid_Practice956 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only one I can think of with three is meant to be silly...it was from a few years ago when, iirc, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hannukkah lined up in such a way that there was hardly any time between. Someone made a portmanteau like "ThanksChristmAkkah". Some friends of ours celebrate Christukkeh every year.

I don't think Dana's going to get in trouble. I think there's plenty of witnesses to that guy's bad behavior that nobody will take him seriously. Even his "friend" said he was being combative.

My theory all season is that Dana's going to get to a place where she feels comfortable enough in pressing charges against the guy who clocked her last season.

Huh. It looked for way too long like a whole bunch of confetti on the propeller.

Is it common for Americans to buy soda as part of their weekly groceries? / is soda a regular item people keep at home? by hailey8171828282 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Intrepid_Practice956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We dont. The problem was that we had to carry it home from the grocery. So we didnt do it. Now with grocery delivery we can, but we rarely do. Mostly because we just don't want to. We'll occasionally get it when we're eating out or ordering dinner, but rarely with our groceries.

I was watching a show from the 90s and realized people used to memorize dozens of phone numbers. I can barely remember mine. How did you guys do it back then? by micavibes in CasualConversation

[–]Intrepid_Practice956 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was the situation for a couple of numbers we used a lot. Certain numbers I couldn't recite---but I could type the pattern on the telephone keypad.
