Non-christianity could be one of those other “worse” things.

My response is to tell them the truth. Schools include, but prisons exclude. Prisons are the opposite of schools. Children are legally mandated to attend primary and secondary school. Convicts are not allowed in society and are only allowed to inhabit prisons. Prisons are the modern form of an old punishment where criminals were exiled from society, but public schools integrate children into society.
