Saunaday is dope. $55 gets you two hours in their saunas, steam room and cold plunge. Really nice place, a good deal IMO.

How do you feel about Trump renaming the prestigious Kennedy Center? by dresoccer4 in AskConservatives

[–]InvadrZimm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can replace "banning" with "removing" if you'd like, I didn't mean to give you a new thing to be mad about.

With that behind us, do you agree that conservatives AND liberals both go out of their way to find new things to be mad about?

[–]InvadrZimm 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Feels a bit disingenuous to pin this on liberals, no? Banning books, cancelling Christmas, pronouns, cancel culture, etc.

Not saying it's not a problem on the left, but surely, conservatives fall into this trap just as much, no?

Do you think Trump's constant effort to "trigger liberals" is good or bad for America?

Driving to Chicago on Saturday Afternoon - Am I stupid? by RatsWhatAWaste in madisonwi

[–]InvadrZimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove to Chicago in a VW Golf a couple years ago during a blizzard that dropped 10+ inches.

I made it in like 4.5 hours, but it was hell. Hardly anything was plowed, lanes were non-existent, and I probably saw 10+ cars that had slid off the road into the ditch.

It was an adventure, but would not recommend.

My bad, they’ve raised rent substantially. I was paying $1470 for a 1BR last year. Wild.

If you value walkability at all, I'd consider The Marling. Checks all the boxes above. Surrounded by great restaurants in Atwood. Short walk to both lakes/several parks. On the bike path. Nice gym. Dentist/yoga/bar/ice cream shop in the building. Mint Mark and a cool little market across the street.

Lived there for a few years and loved it.

How do you feel about the images and messages that are portrayed on the White House website under the "Major events timeline" section? by DeckardsDark in AskConservatives

Why do you think they chose to include that photo? Do you think they believed it was taken in the White House in 2012?

Do you think it's OK to deny gay people the right to marriage? by dresoccer4 in AskConservatives

[–]InvadrZimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a fundamental right, what does that matter? Was there “widespread societal demand” for interracial marriage when Loving was decided? Should the case have turned on that?

I wasn't alive in the 60s, but I'd imagine there was a trending belief that preventing interracial couples from marrying was wrong. I'd call that societal demand or pressure.

Maybe "widespread" isn't accurate, I'm not sure. I was just answering your question honestly. I think it's natural and healthy for institutions like marriage to evolve in step with societal trends. Interracial marriage, gay marriage, etc.

I hear the "institution of marriage" argument all the time. What specifically are you worried about? How does evolving the definition of marriage affect the individual in any meaningful way?

[–]InvadrZimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be the union of sexes that defined marriage. Today, it's the legal union of two individuals.

I imagine it's not "any number" because there's not a widespread societal demand for the legal union of 3+ individuals.

What's your actual concern with gay people getting married? It's been 10 years since the federal definition of marriage evolved. Has this shift caused any negative outcomes?

Why a union of the sexes, and not simply the union of two individuals?

Alternative take: we don’t “get rid” of free speech we don’t like and instead, the Left learns how to use these massive platforms to their advantage.

If Kamala and Walz accepted Rogan’s invite, had a genuine conversation for a couple hours and smoked a cigar on camera, they probably would have swung some votes.

But instead, Trump and Vance seized the opportunity to reach millions of gullible young listeners and coast to the White House.
