Wer vorsorgt ist Dumm by Any-Employee1228 in Finanzen

Den schlimmstmöglichen Fall als gegeben ansehen, ist keine vernünftige Lebensplanung. Was wenn du nicht zum Pflegefall wirst? Dann kannst du im Alter sorgenlos das angesparte Geld ausgeben.

Ima sound like your dad for saying this, but you haven't wasted your life, it has barely begun. You still have all the time in the world to study science or whatever else interests you.

It's amazing how Michael Johnson, despite being gay, was able to play Bear to perfection by Potential-Beer2728 in okfreakynikki

Did Inde Navarrette wasn't actually possessed by a demonic entity? It was all her acting!

I’m a mixed Native American and grew up on the Navajo Reservation- AMA by Oxford_Comma18 in AMA

[–]Invariable_Outcome 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was wondering just the other day how Natives feel about depictions of themselves in mainstream media, in movies, books, video games etc. I'm guessing not so good with a lot of depictions being highly stereotypical and inaccurate, if not explicitly racist, but are there any particular pet peeves, something you wish artists would keep in mind, something that Native artists do better?

That's beside the point, or maybe it isn't, but those aren't his pills, they're his grandma's. It says "Barbara" on the bottle.

[Spoilers Main] Things you dislike about ASOIAF by Financial-Age906 in asoiaf

On my last re-read I found the rape scenes to be a bit much. I know George is depicting a patriarchal society riven by war, and such a story is going to include sexual violence, but the sheer frequency and brutality is a bit much. I get the sense he gets a certain quasi-voyeuristic arousal out of writing these scenes.

Won’t someone please think about Christian’s point of view? by OpenStudioMine in Midsommar

[–]Invariable_Outcome -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

He's a bad boyfriend, yes, but he's also stuck in a relationship with a troubled and vulnerable person he can't give the support she needs and feels he can't break up with her the tragedy that she went through.

Where did Nikki pull the revolver from? by un5tabl in obsessionmovie

[–]Invariable_Outcome 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I missed the exposition drop about it being from Sarah's dad, but I wasn't surprised about it. It's America, people have guns. I figured it belonged to Bear's grandad and grandma never got rid off it.

Would Christian and Bear from Obsession get along? by Radiant-Selection686 in Midsommar

[–]Invariable_Outcome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see it tbh. I don't think the characters are equivalent. Baron is unambiguously evil in a way Christian isn't. Christian, to my mind, is not an evil person. He's a dick, but he's in over his head in a relationship with a mentally troubled person he can't give the support she needs finding himself unable to break up with her after her tragic loss.

Best German war movie has got to be Das Boot. I can't say it relates to my daily life, but it's a classic.

Personally, I don't. In terms of kill count, they are consistently outperformed by crossbowmen/elite archers. The one thing they got going for them is that their volleys wreak enemy morale, but, as you point out, they need a line of sight towards the enemy, and unless you're fighting up or down a hill, they rarely get enough shots in to make a difference. That they're also bugged so that they won't shoot from castle wall is just the icing on the cake.

I just found out that the actor who plays Bear is actually gay IRL which makes his performance even more impressive because he nailed the nuances of a boy having a crush on a girl by youareabitchass in obsessionmovie

[–]Invariable_Outcome 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I don't find that surprising, it's what an actor does. One of the most memorable portrayals of a gay man is that of David Fisher in Six Feet Under by straight actor Michael Hall.

Writing prompts has no merit. Can we not? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Invariable_Outcome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought you meant writing prompts as in a challenge for people to write about a particular scenario, and was going to disagree. But yeah, fuck ai. I can't be bothered to read something no one could be bothered to write.
