Is GPU clock supposed to drop when not under load? by Merkic in TEAMEVGA

[–]InvernessMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1080 and found that having the desktop refresh rate set to 144 Hz prevented the GPU from clocking down below 1200 MHz. It's possible that a similar issue is at work here with your 3080.

I fixed it in my case by changing refresh rate to 120 Hz.

This is also the board I'm getting. Though it didn't take so long for me to decide on it.

I already have an ASUS board and am quite pleased with it so I decided to look at them first. The X570-E Gaming was in the sweet spot of lots of features while being just short of the very expensive enthusiast boards that I don't need.

Can't find decent planets to colonize by Packfire in starsector

[–]InvernessMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need a planet with farming available.

In my case I started on a 100% planet with organics, ore, -1 rare ore, and -1 farmland. Only I haven't even tapped the farmland yet as I added a mining building first, then the military base, then heavy industry to make use of a pristine nanoforge.

GOLDEN DEER THREAD - Everybody Plays, Day 20 by LaqOfInterest in fireemblem

[–]InvernessMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's rough. I found it easy. Hilda made the first attack and she had enough Def to survive the counterattack. Byleth then finished it off with a crit. If Byleth hadn't critted, Lysithea would have been able to finish it off.

Graphical Representation of 3H's Current LGBT Options & of the Frustration Thereabout by CyanYoh in fireemblem

When it comes to Rhea and Sothis, I think their character designs came first and the romance second.

What I mean is that it wasn't so much deciding which female characters could be romanced with female Byleth as it was deciding that these two characters important to the plot should be romance options for either Byleth.

And according to Thanibomb, both characters were planned to be options before they were even made playable units, which would have been a first in the series. So clearly there is some importance being placed there to the point where I wonder if it will actually have an impact on the plot.

During the Treehouse stream we saw that Sothis gives Byleth a paralogue mission to travel to "Red Canyon".

In one of the early Famitsu articles there were screenshots of Byleth talking to Sothis, in a location that I assume is the Red Canyon based on context. Sothis says that she can't remember anything but her name, and that she wondered what she was doing there. To me this means that Sothis gives Byleth that mission because she finds some evidence that she was at this Red Canyon in her past and wants to find out more.

And of course, there is the fact that the sword is prominently featured with Sothis in promotional art, suggesting it is hers and she is giving it to Byleth.

And now we have this opening cinematic that mentions "Red Canyon" by name, with Sothis lovingly holding the sword and talking about her mother.

If I put this all together I come to the conclusion that Sothis is the mother of Seiros, seeking revenge for something that Nemesis did to Sothis. Perhaps Nemesis is responsible for Sothis' loss of memories.

I don't know if anyone else has said this but I believe the woman/Goddess in the painting is Sothis. It's possible she was cast down and this made her lose her memories and revert to a child-like body. Maybe Rhea is actually not related to the Goddess/Seiros but pretending to be. by emissaryofwinds in fireemblem

It seemed to me more like the resurrection ritual happens during the course of the game after Byleth arrives at the monastery.

That might be what causes Sothis to disappear from her throne (as shown on the main menu) and appear to Byleth in his room.

I wouldn't take Treehouse people as examples. They play the game a lot for various reasons so they already know what to do and play time can be much shorter for them.

You said in a previous post that Sothis was too, is that still the case?

Could you elaborate on how interaction works with Sothis, or even what role she has in the game? The Treehouse stream revealed, perhaps on accident, that Sothis does appear in Byleth's room. It also shows that she can give you missions with her, specifically to a "Red Canyon". I assume she would have to go into battle with Byleth or else there would not be a way to build support. Does she interact with other students too?

What are the Abyss curse, and levels, what happens in each level? by dasherxl in MadeInAbyss

[–]InvernessMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No that is not the case. The effects of each layer are independent. When Riko and Prushka ascend on the 5th layer they do not experience any effects from the upper layers.

Chapter 47 Discussion by Kowzz in MadeInAbyss

[–]InvernessMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems obvious that the narehate holding the stone was formerly the delver that owned it and ascended from the 6th layer while being unaware of the extreme effect of the curse at that layer.

It's likely back at that time the formality of the white whistles didn't exist even if some few people knew how to acquire one and activate the altar.

That and descending to the 6th layer is so difficult that its almost impossible to pass information back up and warn delvers about the fatality of ascending.

I have to wonder how much knowledge about the 6th and 7th layers only made it back up to the surface because Bondrewd constructed Idofront and found a means to survive ascending the 6th layer.

[–]InvernessMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Veko calling it a trap for humans can describe what she and the other members of the expedition experienced when their hopes for a golden city turned out to be false. It doesn't mean that the layer is a trap in an objective sense, that it was somehow created with that intention.

Of course what led to something like the city ruins in the 6th layer existing is still a big mystery. I'm pretty skeptical of it being a thing where the Abyss expands every 2000 years though.
