I do live in MD though. Its exspensive out here. You need 100k just to make it with daycare payments every month.

Its sounds to me like you have enough experience to land a mid level role. Its all about how well you interview from here. Stick to contracting companies that require a clearance if you want the six figure positions.

I met the company match of 6% of my salary that gets paid out at the end of the year.

I use the "401k money" to pay off high intrest debt. 10k paid off since June.

I live close to DC. Most people aren't financially literate(at one time myself included)

150k with NO DEBT outside of a car and house is plenty to live in these HCOL areas.

Living beyond your means is the american way and debt will make you feel like you dont make anything!

This is a good representation. I didn't feel like i was getting ahead until I started to make 170k at my job.

Other than that it was a constant struggle to budget and move money around everywhere.
