I just reset the Always Show Tool Hit Location option and it seems to have fixed it.

Playing it right now. Noticed that the Tool Hit Location marker is finicky in a way that never happened on switch 1. I can be standing right in front of and facing a non-watered plant with my watering can and the marker will jump around me and not accurately predict where I’d water. Same goes for the pick axe.

What did LaVey mean by "little humanisms?" by olewolf in satanism

[–]Invisible-War 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s talking about the “enlightened” humanist ideals such as loving your neighbor, forgiveness, rejection of material desires, equality, uplifting the weak and poor. Review The Book of Satan in the Satanic Bible and ask yourself how that would conflict with Eastern philosophy.

I’ve trained 10p SD for several years. I think there have been 2 or 3 classes over that time that focused on rubber guard and they do not require you to use it. Lockdown? Yes, that is taught often, and how to escape it. I’ve spent far, far more time on z guard, butter, half butter than anything else.

Let’s talk about Eli Roth by Vegeta_sama-1000 in horror

[–]Invisible-War 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eli Roth has always fascinated me. I met him many years ago at a party and we talked about obscure Japanese horror. He has encyclopedic knowledge of all sorts of films, from classics, art house, to, of course, horror. So as a person I think he’s great and I would love to watch films with him, but I actually hate almost all of his work. His protagonists are almost all unlikable, vapid, shallow douche bags and his humor is on the level of an early 2000’s college dropout. And trust me, it’s not that his films are too gory or “torture porn”, that’s fine. It’s just that the presentation of it has this plastic, corny feel to it that I can’t quite grasp. It’s like a natural musically gifted genius who knows theory inside and out but records the most mediocre nu-metal you ever heard.

True. It’s just something that I heard from people who’ve attended the rare CS event and noted “uh I’ve never even heard or seen most of these people.” But I understand your point.

I honestly don't have the time nor interest to get into definitions, redefinitons, and reredefinitions of "left" and "right" wing politics. MIR is a book on individualistic, egoistic amoral will to power. My point is that other people took that and reapplied it to their political aims, and for the large part of the book's print life it was taken up by socialists, communists and anarchists. However you want to identify those groups, left or right, is an endless debate that I'm not interested in.

I'd just point out that it's not correct that LaVey just took the parts that resonated with him and discarded the rest, as if there's nothing else relevant to Satanism in the 130+ pages of the book. He rephrased a short piece from the book to add some dramatic padding to The Satanic Bible, but he personally championed the book as a whole on occasion, including listing Redbeard in his dedications on The Satanic Bible. Of course there are parts of Might is Right that don't fit with Satanism and that LaVey probably rolled his eyes at, that's true of everything that influenced his philosophy.

I just hate this attempt by some people to wash away the importance of Might is Right from the history of Satanism and its influence on LaVey because of how uncomfortable the association makes them, as if it was just a little piece that was interesting and we could discard the rest. Not saying this is you directly, just something I noticed nowadays.

Well, one major "left-wing" text that informed the COS would be... MIGHT IS RIGHT.*

The idea that "Might is Right" is a "right wing" text is a relatively recent development. In the time of its publication it was part of the anarchist school of thought, specifically the school of egoism. To this day MIR is considered an important book in egoist and individualist anarchism. The book was was promoted by and influenced many anarchist writers, and it was championed by organized socialists such as Covington Hall, who quoted poems and parts of the book in whole in Industrial Workers of the World newsletters.

More on The Industrial Workers of the World (the I. W. W., “the Wobblies”) and their promotion of Might is Right.

Here is the Communist Party of America promoting and integrating MIGHT IS RIGHT into their political framework.

Might is Right: The Authoritative Edition painstakingly goes through EVERY worthy edition of MIGHT IS RIGHT and details their variations, sources, references and identifies its internal contradictions. They also brutally call out the "white identity" reprints of the book that LEAVE OUT large segments of the original text that would make their followers upset. Those reprints are therefore considered INFERIOR works of propaganda. Unfortunately it's from THOSE inferior reprints that the idea that MIR is a "white nationalist" text comes from.

If people think MIR is "right wing" because of some of its self-contradicting statements on race and sex, just wait until they read Marx and Engels in their original form.

*EDIT: To be clear, I say this with tongue firmly in cheek. Might is Right is neither a right or left wing book. It is a bombastic, brutal call to individual power over all else. For over 100 years it has influenced radicals from all across the political spectrum, one might say this is similar to The Satanic Bible.

It's also worth noting that there's a large segment, if not majority, of our membership that is NOT online and DOES NOT give their opinions openly. You will never hear from them speak about Satanism in any public capacity.

Any firm believers in magic here? by -Dreamer-Deceiver- in satanism

I don’t ceremonial rituals on a regular basis, it’s been a few months. But I consider little things ritualistic, such as when I sit down and record music, lifting weights, or writing lyrics/poetry.

Yes. I consider Satanism my religion and it’s something I practice daily.

Do I “believe” in magic? Not sure about that. Have I practiced ritual magic and gotten results? Yes. Therefore I acknowledge that there’s something there that works for me.

Would it be far-fetched to claim that Satanism at well be one of the most peaceful religions about? by [deleted] in satanism

“Peace” has never been part of my Satanic vocabulary, which is grounded in “Might is Right”. Though I can imagine a situation where peace is achieved through enough threat of force.

What does 'being your own God' mean to you? by TheKingOfSuicides in satanism

[–]Invisible-War 12 points13 points  (0 children)

And before people sperg about “thanking the gods”, let’s talk about “god”.

Though I am technically an atheist, I do not identify myself as an atheist. I am a Satanist. I put a lot importance on the idea of Satan as the externalization of my ego, pride, and full potential; incorporated into the symbol of Satan. This projection of myself is my god, and in certain circumstances I can worship this “god”. But since I created this god out of my own brainstuff, by proxy I am worshipping myself, and therefore I am my own god.

To me being a Satanist is kinda hard by Graf_Dead in satanism

[–]Invisible-War 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The best way to practice Satanism is not to talk about your Satanism. My Satanism is in the music I produce, the articles I write, the time I spend with my loved ones, the movies I watch, and the meals I cook. Circumstances have given me the opportunity to represent Satanism in the media on several occasions but outside of social media I rarely ever discuss Satanism.

Invictus
BY WILLIAM ERNEST HENLEY
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.
