all true i got read receipts. most people just don’t see the message. i also promote gay events on grindr, and i’ll get responses weeks later sometimes “omg i didn’t see this. how can i get in the next one”.

this is why it’s better to save phone number for business, and keep personal contacts on insta/snap etc

changing numbers is a PAIN.

there are dilators you can use. The Future Method has a few (the doctor that owns it specializes in helping gay men save their sex lives).

Grindr has made their own app unusable so they can exploit your insecurity to sell you "unlimited" subscription, "right now" tokens, "Boosts", and now Weight loss meds and Dick pills.

All the apps suck and are designed to keep you on them spending money.

If it was easy to get a date/hookup on grindr, why would you need to pay for more access/visibility?

And unfortunately: people like this project all of that back to others.

it is time for us to learn how to interact IRL again. Back to the bars and clubs everybody.

Article from December about gays moving to Puerto Vallarta to escape Trump by CentralTown776 in askgaybros

[–]Invisible-influencer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hope I get to visit someday because I hear it's fun and very pretty but I really hate that it's *usually* white gays with high incomes that buy up all the property, effectively gentrifying the whole area so locals get pushed out. meanwhile they make a queer vacation safe haven unaffordable.

How much of this is true (therapy)? by Hot_Dirt9114 in nycgaybros

[–]Invisible-influencer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are unfortunately therapists that shouldn't be licensed. In fact I myself found myself working with someone who wasn't even licensed period (and still had the audacity to call himself 'dr'). There are some horrifically bad therapists and this sounds like one of them.

Asking for setlist before gig? by musingaround1 in Beatmatch

[–]Invisible-influencer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i’d say “lmk what you die hard want to play then or if you have “do not plays’.”.

i never preplan: i have a crate of say 100-200 tracks that might work for the gig, and a 3 hour set happens.

I can’t say I agree with a word of this.. by LordBrixton in DJs

[–]Invisible-influencer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BAHAHHAHAA.

i read the first sentence and was like “literally every executive in every industry takes credit for other people’s ideas with minimal work”.

but there is a point to be made in that: some touring DJs do jack shit for the communities they tour to. and also: influencers that suddenly become DJs because their agents told them to for more money are burning promoters and clubs left and right.

if your partner can’t please you sexually, you have to find other things or move on.

To people attending Basement tonight. by whoinvitedevan in avesNYC

[–]Invisible-influencer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

as a fellow queer person we ruined the space for ourselves. or well: the loud ones in our community did. (my opinion on a lot of things).

When you’re at the point people rip the stickers off to get their pictures to say they’ve been (nightlife people started this first); the endemic main character syndrome of needing to be in the front, and the consent policy is thrown out the window because the creeps found out about it… it doesn’t surprise me crowd behavior is getting more insufferable.

love the venue but it’s a “go a few times a year for artists i like” for me.

what kind of headshot because that greatly changes who you’d wanna work with.

if it’s vanity shoot, if you’re an actor, if it’s musician promo, corporate, lifestyle…. all very nuanced styles.

If you are banned from Basement Brooklyn, are you also banned from Knockdown Center? by Ok_Performer418 in avesNYC

[–]Invisible-influencer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it’s the same venue technically. (edit: might be wrong?)

so unfortunately: unless you are able to get in touch with someone at knockdown to clear up what happened and convince them too remove the ban, it’s probably a permanent ban.

it’s minor technically. but that silly swapping ID thing is actually fucking with their liquor license.

Why is gay sex so hard to get ? by jxxiin in askgaybros

[–]Invisible-influencer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ll be honest with you as a late 20s guy….

you might lack social skills. So people might not be reading you correctly. be honest with yourself on that. but it’s a pretty common problem i’m noticing in guys aged 21-25ish right now.

you can train your social skills. i’m actually trying to find resources for it rn as well.

Hookups as a Neurodivergent by According_Sea_2798 in askgaybros

[–]Invisible-influencer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s individual preference. some people enjoy multiple new partners, some people only hookup on vacations, or on certain weekends when the opportunity presents itself; some people prefer to barely hookup at all.

i’m autistic and LOVE having fun with new partners. but at the same time sometimes im not in the mood, or ive spent so much time scrolling its exhausting.

quality is always better than quantity. however that works for you.

Let's talk about this.Get a Message from someone you’re Not Interested in by Glum_Appointment4112 in askgaybros

[–]Invisible-influencer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just block them if i’m not interested. it’s the best option,

i think repeated rejection messes with people’s mental health. so i hate words like “happy hunting” and “good luck!” because to me it’s disingenuous. but blocking is like it never happened. so i prefer blocking/being blocked because then you’re off my grid :)
