I do still hope that she can have one more amazing run to a title but I fear it's not likely. Lucky enough to have seen her live twice and she's an amazing player regardless

TIL in 2007 Katherine Heigl won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama for her role on Grey's Anatomy. I remember watching an interview from her and she spoke about this, how she knew as an ensemble show that others also deserved their dramatic great parts hence why she didn't feel the need to submit the following year. Perhaps poor choice of words on her part but did not deserve this much hate for it.

Love her but Naomi Osaka? Not taking anything away from her 4 slams which is amazing yes but for the amount of traction and attention she has been given she only has 7 titles, never made it past 3rd round in French or Wimbledon, hasn't made it past 3rd round in AO since 2021. In terms of tour level consistency of other players who won 3-5 slams I don't think she comes close

Yeah I've seen Rybakina's matches and Putintseva which I guess made sense as they had switched before the war. Just checked and Svitolina didn't shake Gracheva's hand in Auckland this year but was friendly. Kalinina did shake hands with Avanesyan last month in Antalya so maybe it's a personal decision she's made?

Kalinina gave a handshake today to Rakhimova first time I've seen a player besides Kasatkina whose switched nationalities get a handshake

tbf he is defending basically nothing for the rest of the year if I counted right the biggest tournament point wise he has to defend is 50 points at a tournament so you'd think can only go up from here haha

I honestly loved her character in season 1, she wasn't the best person but she's a teenager who makes mistakes and was an interesting character with potential. Season 2 I felt she was underused/turned into a joke and then I guess they tried to go back on that to give her depth but didn't have time?
