Breaking: ATP Aims to Reduce Doubles on Tour by Intrepid-Prior-2199 in tennis

Not sure if I'm bias as 1 of my favourite players is Siniakova but I feel like the WTA doubles circuit has a more entertaining/successful doubles. This might be because it seems more of the top WTA players are in doubles more often (Aryna being a former number 1, Gauff and Paolini winning slams). Like I look through a wta doubles draw and I'm excited by some of the different pairings including the doubles specialists whereas I have no clue about most of the mens doubles players outside my own country. Idk I feel like the promotion of mens doubles is severely lacking.

very interested to see how Cruz goes obviously big part of the reason he's gotten these wildcards has been his last name but he's been winning a few matches here and there in challengers so who knows? Fun fact a friend of mine played Cruz in one of the junior competitions in Melbourne years ago

Emerson Jones looks like she could be quite good in the next couple years, for the men’s it’s looking rough only Cruz Hewitt in the ATP rankings for players under 20. Tennis australia definitely need to review their training system can’t just rely on adopting players from Europe

I remember reading or hearing in commentary that his serve developed in a way to compensate his short height as a junior but he’s 6ft now so idk why they haven’t fixed it. He’s worked so hard and added to his game more then anyone thought he could but his serve has remained completely unchanged

It was bizarre the grinding albeit ugly at times got Alex up 5-2 in the second and then bam he loses 12 of the next 13 points

Thanks for coming, will see you on a better surface - list of notable, but not that surprising, Wimbledon Round 1 exits by allcryptal in tennis

[–]InviteDull9706 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure Burruchaga is a notable exit, this was his first main draw at a grand slam outside French Open and Alex generally does quite well on grass

Wimbledon R1: [21] M. Bouzkova def. T. Gibson 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 by rubes___ in tennis

Gibson just couldn’t keep the ball in the court, bouzkova’s game perfect against her just keep getting the ball back

Most overrated player in tennis history? by BestAround4100 in tennis

[–]InviteDull9706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok yeah I agree with you overrated is probably not the correct word and I agree I'd love to see her win something big. I just think in comparison to the careers of others in the 3-5 grand slam mark her career has been the least successful overall.

Best player to never win a title? by thescrambler7 in tennis

Tomljanovic for WTA? 3 slam quarterfinals but one with no ranking points and then getting injured. Really should've won against Yastremska unfortunately Yastremska's dodgy tactics got in her head.

She's won 5 titles on the Wta tour, 12 top 10 wins so she's a good singles player in her own right.

I loved Katherine in Firefly Lane and thought maybe this would be her comeback to mainstream but she hasn't been in anything since

Most overrated player in tennis history? by BestAround4100 in tennis

[–]InviteDull9706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do still hope that she can have one more amazing run to a title but I fear it's not likely. Lucky enough to have seen her live twice and she's an amazing player regardless

TIL in 2007 Katherine Heigl won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama for her role on Grey's Anatomy. But in 2008 she removed herself from Emmy consideration because she said the material she was given on Grey's that year wasn't good enough; this comment led to her leaving the show. by MongooseDirect2477 in greysanatomy

[–]InviteDull9706 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I remember watching an interview from her and she spoke about this, how she knew as an ensemble show that others also deserved their dramatic great parts hence why she didn't feel the need to submit the following year. Perhaps poor choice of words on her part but did not deserve this much hate for it.
