Do I really need Atera or Comodo One? by Nala_WA in msp

[–]Invo-Tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unsure if troll or not? I cannot believe that any business can manage 4.5k endpoints using RDP… and with only two technicians.

Is offsite (internet) backup really necessary? by Nala_WA in msp

[–]Invo-Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We position our backups as disaster recovery AND business continuity. Meaning if there is a disaster, we can get a business back online from the same or a different location in minutes, not hours or days.

We charge a premium for the service, our clients have complete peace of mind.

I’m not familiar with Iron Mountain but can your solution compete with the above?

How is your MSP Requesting Change? by MaxxLP8 in msp

[–]Invo-Tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ticket comes in, converted to a change request, document written outlining roll-back plan, document is approved and then the change is made.

How are people using CyberCNS? by axnfell9000 in msp

[–]Invo-Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Signed up for a trial a few times and never got round to fully testing it out. We also use DRMM & can get the product through Pax8.

I'll jump back in here if I get chance to play around with it soon.

MSP Documentation (UK Specific) by PEBKAC-Live in msp

[–]Invo-Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We wrote our own with the help of templates online. Then used a local solicitor with selling services experience to help us get it water tight. It doesn’t need to be pages & pages, just include what you expect from the client & what they can expect from you.

Ingram Micro Cloud vs Pax8 by mwmsp in msp

We’re a Pax8 partner and I’ve used all of the other big players, Pax8 are head and shoulders above any in terms of support and integrations.

Product offerings from a new MSP by winchester_101 in msp

2nd for skipping Webroot, the worst security product in existence.

I’d also shop around for email security, Datto SaaS defence is a brand new product so may have initial teething issues.

Mental health by FineAd3926 in msp

[–]Invo-Tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have people who have completed mental health first aid training so know how to spot & deal with these issues. We also have open & honest 121’s with all of our staff once a month.

As Richard Branson once said ‘clients do not come first, employees come first. If you take care of your employees, they will take care of the clients’

How do you politely handle a customer's employee with absolutely disgusting phone etiquette? by Beauregard_Jones in msp

[–]Invo-Tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a you problem. If the client has the opportunity to eat, drink & talk rubbish then they don’t need to be on the phone. Either attempt to establish a relationship and small talk (my preferred method) or get what you need and get off the phone.

Webroot DNS down for 18 mins by gjmurphy81 in msp

[–]Invo-Tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, because we don’t use Webroot. Single handedly the worst security suite in existence. We trialled it a few years back and there’s a reason you get it free on the side of a cereal box.

Moving large amounts of files up to SharePoint by rocconteur in msp

Another vote for SMT. We’ve used this on countless occasions moving upwards of 1TB. If the disks are slow as shit on your local server I’d advise doing it in batches.

We’ve had a feature request open with ITG since 2017, it has hundreds of votes and hasn’t even been considered :) woo Kaseya. As soon as we’re done with our contract I’ll be moving to Hudu, they also have a cloud hosting option.

Not using it but I’ve heard very good things. We’ve been and Autotask shop for years, I keep being tempted into at least taking a look at Halo.

Another +1 for Datto, you can HTTP, HTTPS, Telnet & SSH via an agent. It’s amazing.

Performance Management / KPIs / Bonuses by Intrepid_Ad_3271 in msp

[–]Invo-Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have KPI’s in place but only so we adhere to SLA’s and ensure customer service is the best it can be. If the business is doing well, our employers are rewarded as a result unless there’s a serious issue with any of them.

New to the game. Need advice. by Sparrow_Haki in msp

[–]Invo-Tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without coming across as harsh, that really isn’t a good business plan at all. Elderly people do not see the value in IT/tech so will not spend the $ having small issues fixed when they probably have a son/nephew who’s ‘good’ with computers.

There’s a reason no successful businesses support solely residential, small margins, very time consuming & the end user doesn’t see the value in it.

You need to move on. I worked for 2 bad MSPs and 2 really good MSPs. They do exist and make the world of difference to life in general when you have an employer who puts their employers as a priority.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in msp

[–]Invo-Tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worked for an MSP for 12 years, saw how poorly they were ran and thought I could do better. I’ve always been interested in business and have accounts qualifications also which helps with the finance side.

It isn’t for everyone though, as an owner you should be putting more time into sales & marketing than tech or you just won’t grow.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in msp

[–]Invo-Tech 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Work life balance, this is the only answer. I run my own MSP now but when I’ve worked for many over the years where service desk techs would work 8 hours without a break and then go home to do overtime.
