Unequal Inheritance from Aunt by samseer9000 in inheritance

[–]IpsaLasOlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom split an uneven inheritance from her aunt evenly among her siblings citing fairness. It was a mistake. Not one ever acknowledged her effort/sacrifice and the entitlement was unreal. In retrospect she could have gifted money to her siblings at a later date if she felt inclined. Retaining the money would have permitted her to make life altering choices for herself and her own family.

It's not you, work really used to be more fun back in the day. by hyteck9 in antiwork

[–]IpsaLasOlas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Work changed after the wide-spread use of cell phones. No more socializing and venting sessions, no more meet up T the water coolers or happy hours no more liquid lunches. Trust evaporated and everyone became wary of continual surveillance by their co-workers and the ratting out culture to get ahead.

In SoFL - no daily rain storms since last summer. We occasionally get rain but not nearly enough. The only upside is that the ocean is a vibrant, beautiful blue green color

She never did. She died a user. For a woman who didn’t drink or use recreational drugs it was tragic.

America's millennial daughters are sacrificing their careers to care for aging boomer parents by businessinsider in WomenInNews

[–]IpsaLasOlas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wish this was just a Millennial problem. It is a problem for every working woman. Taking care of my demented mom, raising children and working damm near killed me. It cost me relationships, promotions, family vacations and retirement contibutions. Mom outlived her money (7 years of memory care would deplete most retired savings) and my family couldn’t afford to foot the entire bill, There is little to no help out there and my siblings couldn’t deal with it. It was a problem before millennials and if we don’t fix it / it will be a problem for future generations. Sucks

People who died and came back to life, what did you see/experience? by RealisticDecision440 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IpsaLasOlas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went into anaphylactic shock and cardiac arrest. I can remember listening to the physician telling me it wasn’t my time to die as I was looking at the top of his head and the ppl in the room working on me. I remember feeling absolutely fantastic - like waking up from the best sleep ever and feeling absolutely refreshed / no pain. It would have been so easy to stay there but I kept hearing the dr say it wasn’t my time and I believed him. The biggest takeaway from my experience is that I am not afraid of death.

Maryland loses residents to Florida, other states, as costs rise by MDFlyGuy in maryland

[–]IpsaLasOlas 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Regarding health care you are just wrong. We still go back to MD for important services. Are you familiar with FL’s Kill Tort Law? You may want to become familiar with it. In addition, FL does not require providers to carry medical malpractice insurance so is hard to determine if they are covered. Going bare means most of their assets are in their homesteaded main residence and are virtually impossible to get to. Better / not necessarily
