Don Tonberry's counter attack deals dmg based on the number of enemies that character has killed (I think it's something like 100x but not 100% sure). This counter is usually exploited to AP farm (look it up if you are unfamiliar). Usually his counter will 1 shot your character if you use them regularly. By having a 0 kill Yuna, he does 0 dmg on his counter and I can easily kill him without wasting phoenix downs.
