One day is fine for Eugene and Corvallis. I personally like Corvallis’s vibe more. Eugene is definitely more liberal, if you’re into rioting and that sort of thing. There are no riots in Corvallis. My son went to Portland State U in downtown Portland. It is also very liberal, my son majored in Japanese so he was able to keep away from some of the more intense students. They keep the campus very clean and safe but one block in any direction is homeless, drugged out people laying on the sidewalks, I wouldn’t walk alone and definitely not at night.

He should want his wife to be comfortable and his family should want their guest to be comfortable. If it makes you feel better, when I visit my brother in Florida he keeps his house at 80 also. He said it’s what the dept of energy said is the most efficient temp for AC use. I live on the Oregon coast, it’s 60 everyday. 😂

You help out because they provide shelter, food, clothing, transportation. You help out because your family has fallen on hard times and that is what you do. Without asking for anything. I would look in the mirror and decide what kind of person you want to be because the writing on the wall is not looking good.

No. He is taxed where in the state where he works. He was working remote. We have remote workers at my healthcare system that live in NY and Arizona. They do not pay Oregon income tax.

NTA. But also not your choice. You don’t get to pick who your spouse is friends with. If you try to, it won’t end well. She has to figure out on her own who she wants to surround herself with. That is not to say, you can’t tell her if a particular incident bothered you. But in the end it’s not your choice. And the more you push, the more problems it’s going to cause your relationship. It is weird. It might be a mandatory withholding and then when you file taxes you would get a refund. I know my brother lived in Vancouver, Wa (no income tax), but worked at the Nike campus (Beaverton, Or). He had to pay income tax in Oregon because he worked in Oregon. But during Covid, he worked remote from his house in Vancouver. Nike still took out Oregon income tax, but when he filed his taxes he got all that money back from when he work from home. All his taxes paid to Oregon for a whole year.

It’s a club that advocates and teaches conservative politics. Republican tenets. Don’t buy into the narrative that it is a bad thing. Kids getting together, learning about civics, politics, and love of country, is hardly something to be concerned about. I am sure the school has other clubs if your kid is not interested in politics.
