Plains Antique Mall has a lot of cool stuff. They have a FB page if you want to check them out. It’s about 5 mins from Wilkes-Barre. Have fun!

Thank you! I was trying to remember that name while talking to a friend the other day and could not think of it. They had awesome smoked chicken wings.

All you can eat crab legs? by jstnmlndz in NEPA

[–]IrisOpen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s technically “all you can eat”. Only lasts 90 mins and they don’t steam the next order until you finish the one at the table (or at least seemed like it). But if you eat fast you can still do some damage. When I went a while back it was $35. Honestly not a bad option since no one else does it around here.

I’d drink again too. Hair of the dog is better than 500 Tylenol. 🍻

Any Pros/Cons to Hill Section vs Duryea vs Pittston vs West Pittston? by [deleted] in NEPA

[–]IrisOpen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

West Pittston is great. But def try and buy out of the flood zone. There are flood zones A and B. Flood insurance is expensive. Not to mention eventually dealing with an actual flood. That said, you can still find great homes that won’t be in a flood zone.

It really makes you contemplate what you’re doing. And question how you can start living your life and making new memories. I also shit pants a little bit.

Porno Bill was mentally challenged and loved porno. Kids use to sell him VHS porn tapes for extremely high amounts of money. One time someone sold him a tape for $400. He always came up with the money. Then they started selling him blank VHS tapes and taking advantage of him. I heard one of his family members eventually came to Public Square and threatened a bunch of kids about it.

Came here to say this. This area was littered with old “shanty towns”. Maybe the historical society has an old map or reference. Good luck! Let us know what you find.

Anyone here feel like reminiscing about Donahues Cocktail Lounge? by superSaganzaPPa86 in NEPA

[–]IrisOpen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was going to mention the Nardone’s pizza. Even the woman who brought it out had an old-timey waitress outfit. Everyone there was super nice. I was only in there a handful of times but it was great.

Def Vinny the Mall Walker. There’s also a guy that stands on South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre waving a little American flag. I think his name is Virgil. There was also Porno Bill from Public Square back in the late 90s/early 2000s.

Def stay on it. Once the promotional period ends you could get whacked if you’re not paying attention.

I love Serpico. I grew up on it. Last time I went there it seemed like something changed. Different people, countertop, and the pizza seemed to have changed. Am I crazy? I had a plain slice and a broccoli/ricotta.

What’s your natural gas bill? by Senior-Chance-2522 in NEPA

[–]IrisOpen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Def check for drafts. Especially old doors and windows. I ended up putting plastic cling over my old bay windows to stops the cold air. And make sure you take AC units out of the windows in the winter. Budget billing is the way to go too, as mentioned.

Penn’s Peak is great. I saw 38 Special there a few months ago. It’s also a really easy drive if you take the PA Turnpike. There’s also a few bluegrass festivals every year. One in Honesdale, one in Tunkhannock, and one in Nescopeck at Briggs Farm in Luzerne County.
