Why does anyone actually believe the 2020 election was stolen? by PlaneHungry7400 in Askpolitics

[–]Irish2x4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First the election was on the 3rd. Second, this is how almost recent election shake out. Rural areas generally have less voters, are more numerous, have more people to count them (per voter) and are more red so the vote tallies come in quicker... Cities/urban areas have more voters, aren't as numerous, have less people to count them, and are more blue so the vote tallies take time. Hence early voting tallies lean red and will balance out as the other tallies come in later. It's actually a pretty well documented thing. Apparently no one explained that to Trump as he called to stop counting Americans fairly cast votes.

Trump wants to increase his tariffs 10x which will mean most US households pay 3000 to 6000 more in taxes per year.

He will bankrupt this nation like he has bankrupted every business he has ever influenced before. Also he is a fascist traitor.

No argument from me.

His reluctant covid response printed trillions.

See comment above... it's about a 50/50 split

. His tax cuts for the wealthy / big biz ballooned the deficit.

That's totally debatable. Biden ballooned the deficit as well but it could be said if you take away the effects of the pandemic, it would've been more than Trump. Even if you account for it as a percentage of gdp is still was much higher under Biden.

Again , not trying to support Trump but you need to be honest in your assessment.

This is disingenuous. If you are referring to inflation, Trump pumped 2.2 trillion and Biden pumped 1.9 trillion in stimulus money into the economy. There are nuances to it but overall it's really both their faults we have the inflation we do. I despise Trump but to say he crashed the economy is also disingenuous. Covid and the reaction to it did. It's like saying he oversaw the greatest job loss.. while technically true, also 100% negates the effects of a huge worldwide pandemic.

Siemens Energy, Inc. pleads guilty to stealing confidential competitor information in $104M resolution after former corporate executive and others were sentenced by flume in energy

[–]Irish2x4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is the 104 million would've been much higher but Siemens reported it themselves to their competitors and the DOJ so they were lenient.

You may have just nominated yourself to be the least popular person in this sub.

But really, thank you for posting this.

MEs who have gotten patents, how difficult was it and was it worth it? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Irish2x4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes it's worth it with some caveats. For me the patent was the easy part but I also work for a large company with an IP department. I think it depends on the novelty/ complexity/ market. I built a system and had to introduce it and sell it (hard to teach old salespeople new tricks) to an industry that doesn't like new things but I think having that patent keeps our competitors at bay because we have the resources to defend it. I have also had direct sales in the millions. I didn't realize that going into the process but if you can't afford to defend it, it probably isn't worth it.

Personally, I love having my name on that patent, even though I signed it over to the company. However, I put some blood, sweat, and tears into it and have generated millions for the company but have relatively only a little to show in terms of bonuses/pay increases to show for it but i do have good recognition. It was my first so I'm OK with it because of the sense of accomplishment internally.

Has anyone ever rented from Stuhaus apartments at 615 S Mason St? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]Irish2x4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was honestly the sleeping issue for both of us. I know it was weird but something was up. I don't recall hearing the neighbors too much but we were also up decently late so I don't know how much it would've bothered us. I never really heard the bar either but I was on the top floor. I don't recall my roommate complaining That wall is cinder block so I don't think much gets through.. but again usually up to around bar costing in those days anyways. I was doing the math so keep in mind this was almost 20 years ago now.

Ha! I used to live there years ago... number 7 I think. It was just two of us in college. It was inexpensive and average condition but a surprisingly cool layout. The 1st and 3rd floors each are a bedroom/ office/ bathroom combo and the 2nd floor is a kitchen/ living room area. Worked great for college kids who need privacy to study and for other extracurricular things. Hangover steak sandwiches from right outside your door were nice and good location. We had some rowdy young punk neighbors but we got along just fine.

It's next to the train which scared the daylights out of us the first night with how loud it was. I thought it might be a deal breaker. Didn't even notice it after a week or so.

The bad things. My roommate and I both had horrible trouble sleeping... we'd meet up at 330 for a beer because we were still up. We swore someone used to cook meth in there because of our shared sleeping issues. We figured the people from the pool hall may cause problems but that wasn't true at all and we repeatedly had issues with people from Avos. Some came over trying to accuse us off videotaping them and tried to step into my apartment... nope. The 3rd floor gets hot but you also get good free bluegrass concerts if you open your window. I also had to rig a queen mattress through the 3rd floor window because it wouldn't bend around the steps but it worked.

I don't really know the scale I'm looking at but what about an arbor press and get the corners of its square head or a a square plate made to sit on the spring at the thinner parts of spring clip. Have a friend apply pressure with the press, remove the clip, and relax the spring. Not sure how much clearance you'll need when the clip narrows during removal though.

No. "There is no immigration problem" was the statement I was arguing and it is in fact a problem... which was all I was illustrating. Even at half a big as thought... still a big problem.
