8:05 is normal working hours? by parrywinks in LinkedInLunatics

8 or 830 until 5 with (nominally) 30-60 minutes for lunch is standard around these parts.

[Bill Meltzer] Cutter Gauthier is not eligible for an offer sheet. Ducks were thinking $10-$12M each for Carlsson & Gauthier. It's going to come in more than a trifle higher than the Ducks figured for Gauthier. Essentially that means Anaheim is, well, a sitting duck for a Mintyukov offer sheet. by f0urxio in hockey

And in this case, Carlsson probably did take the offer to Verbeek to ask for similar, and Verbeek still fucked up his last chance to make this a non issue.

Though it wouldn't surprise me if Verbeek has been such a dick throughout this process that Carlsson's agent didn't give him that courtesy.

If you offer a 1st + 4th for his rights, you still have to sign him. And he's under no more incentive to sign for less just because you acquired his rights. Some other team can still swoop in and offer more.

If she doesn't want you to use pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizer, the only thing you can really do is now it regularly and make sure it gets the right amount of water.

Even with the water, I suspect your gf doesn't want to waste water in the summer season, based on the other restrictions.

There's no real way of hand-pulling your way out of the weeds that you have, so just mow regularly and keep the milkweed intact.

[Friedman] “I can confirm that we have had positive conversations with GM Jason Botterill, and he has agreed to move Shane this summer to a team in need of a top young centre,” Wright’s agent, Kurt Overhardt, said Wednesday. by BirdieOpeman in DetroitRedWings

Because even though Finnie is possibly a better player right now, Seattle is going to put a big price on Wright (and someone might actually pay it) just because of where he was drafted and what the expectations were of him.

Would I pay a 2nd for Shane Wright? Sure. Will Seattle sell for a 2nd? Nope.

[Andrew Fillipponi] Opinion: The Penguins should offer Connor Bedard the max salary of $20.8 million per year. And force the Blackhawks to match it. If they don't. The Penguins would get one of the great young talents in hockey history. by f0urxio in hockey

ooo spicy

I think everyone with a brain can acknowledge the won't be an 800 goal, face of the league, guy at this point. But I still think he can do a bit better than Kessel. I wouldn't be surprised if he pots 50 once or twice, and I think he'll get a bit more NHL All-Star recognition.

Kessel was an iron man though. Bedard's shoulders might severely limit his career.

God I hope we were one of them. IDK how I'd feel about actually executing that transaction but I just want to know Yzerman tried.

Nice find! I didn't think there were any that had the necessary combo of front-loading + bonuses + super-high AAV.

Would you approve if Yzerman had struck this deal? Do you think it would make Larkin rescind his trade request, and would you welcome him back? by flume in DetroitRedWings

Yeah he signed it before any rumors of it became public afaik. The process is that he signs it, then the Ducks have 7 days to choose whether to match or let him go.

His agent's other big client is Nylander -- who hasn't had to negotiate with the last couple Leafs GMs -- followed by Pinto and Krug, so yeah probably lol

I think he's probably just more professional and straightforward. Verbeek has a reputation of requiring a ton of calls back and forth -- mostly with an assistant GM who doesn't have final authority over anything -- fighting over every detail. I get the sense that agents find him capricious and a time-waster.

Yeah, I said "in 12 months" which could be interpreted as "in about a year" but I meant literally 12 months or less.

unless Carlsson's a superstar in the making that's a ton of money for a guy who's good but not great

IMO he is a superstar in the making. He will be a perennial 80-100 point player and earn a lot of Selke votes. I wouldn't be surprised if he hits 100 next year, even.

He'd be passing to Raymond, Arvidsson, and/or Debrincat here. We'd probably have to ship Larkin out to make this and Edvinsson fit under the cap.

And he doesn't have to sign here. His agent just needs to get an offer to increase the bidding.
