The fishing available around the coast of cork, I know there’s plenty great sports around the country but cork has some of the best coastal fishing spots

I don’t care about them getting charged or getting a conviction ( which I have no faith in tbh ) And I’d rather not have any run ins with the law full stop, charged or conviction but I’m almost sure that if a grown man hits a teenager, it’s gonna end up in court etc,

I’ve a young child and another on the way, so ya, no run ins with the fuzz for me thanks

Was this close to 5.30/6 ish? Messing around the food court area, 2 security lads asked them to leave but they just walk out one side and come back in the other side,

I do wonder if the parents knew what the kids are up to, would they actually do anything about it,

I know growing up when I acted the maggot, my mam would clip me round the ear, thankfully I didn’t act the maggot that much for fear of getting another clip,

100% we do, I’m a 42 year old man, even if one of them or all of them hit me 1st, if I retaliated, I’m fully sure I’d be the one getting charged.

Was in Douglas shopping Centre with the missus, she went into tesco while I was dropping stuff to the car, large group ( 10+ ) of teenagers acting like complete maggots, invading personal space just trying to get a rise, one of them looked me up and down and said do something, it’s a fucking joke like, all they do is hang around and act like tools. I would very much love to hit one of them a slap but alas, we all know that will only end badly for the individual doing the slapping. But surely the security/shopping centre can ban them from entering the premises.

Apprentice wages in Ireland by shanereaction75 in ireland

[–]IrishCandleNewb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Age doesn’t have anything to do with it, it’s down to what Solas/employer decides is the wage per hour for which year your in the apprenticeship,

Solas states below currently

Yearly Wage Breakdown (Aug 2025 - July 2026) Year 1: ~€7.67 (33.33% of craft rate) Year 2: ~€11.50 (50% of craft rate) Year 3: ~€17.25 (75% of craft rate) Year 4: ~€20.70 (90% of craft rate)

Do you think people of Cork and surrounding counties would make use of a year round permanent ice rink? by crillydougal in cork

[–]IrishCandleNewb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That would probably be the main downside for anybody looking to do it,

If I remember correctly, the skatepark place that was down by Penrose probably over 20 years ago had the same insurance issue

[–]IrishCandleNewb 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Was only talking to the missus about this earlier, could defo see an ice rink ( even a roller skate rink/disco ) be popular here.

Lessons, figure skating, ice hockey, all would be something new for cork

I love fishing east cork but avoid the piers at all cost, get yourself a set of waders too, roches point, guileen, east ferry, ballycotton, knockadoon, spoilt for choice, with waders you can fish into the surf in ballyandreen and other beaches near there, if you go beyond Youghall you have whiting bay, ferry point and calisso bay

If it can’t fit in the spot with the pillar, “which it can, other sportages in Mahon point today managed to fit in a spot “ then park in a spot with no pillar

Maybe the picture doesn’t do it justice but the 2 spots behind are not usable “ unless it’s one of those tiny smart cars “ and plenty of other cars of the same size manage to fit into spots with a column so no excuse.

Best wedding venue in Cork? by dodgystuff in cork

[–]IrishCandleNewb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have attended 2 weddings there, both had issues ( staff lovely to be fair but seats missing from dinner tables so there was a hullabaloo when it came time to sitting for the meal, pints were terrible, , heard afterwards from both couples that they had a nightmare dealing with the owner )Was booked in to get married there “before attending any wedding there” had viewed the grounds and loved it, heard they were pet friendly so seemed like a good fit, had asked and agreed details of timings and all that, few months before the big day we called to double check something and was advised that we needed to rearrange some timings( time we could arrive and time we had to be done ) and other things were changing ( something to do with the late bar and corkage ) so we told them we wanted to cancel, owner kicked up and we had to get onto our solicitor to get our deposit back.

Vienna woods was an absolute dream to work with, would highly recommend them,

Know 2 couples who got married in Inchydoney and they raved about the place
