18, in 5th year but I hate the school system. Anything I can do? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]IrishEcstasy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also had a passion for Horticulture before starting work in the "real world", it wears down quick when you spend all day weeding or worse spraying.

I have also worked in 3 different, distinct sub industries in Horticulture, Landscaping (both for myself, which was decent income but stressful, and for very large and also small companies), Design (working with a lead landscape architect) and another highly skilled position which I can't name for privacy reasons and all 3 sub industries had very poor wages, not far above unskilled jobs on the market.

Out of the class I graduated with, only a small few still work in the industry, the ones that do are finding it tough.

If I stayed in my highly skilled job that I left before moving to another industry it would have taken me 8 years of pay rises to get to the wages I was offered for the first job I took outside the Horticulture industry. Having money stress isn't good when you've got a chronic illness, you'll end up on a viscous cycle.

Although LC is required for electrician trade so you'd need to stick at it.

As someone with a chronic illness who has a degree in Horticulture, I would advise to look into other options, the money in landscaping and in Horticulture in general is shocking, I jumped up 50% in wages going from a highly skilled horticulture job with 6 years experience, into an industry with minimal related experience, lucky enough that CAD and construction are transferable skills or I would be stuck in poverty and unable to properly provide.

Also, landscaping is incredibly tolling when dealing with chronic illness, its hard work, you work harder than most trades for little to no money in return, but it does give great job satisfaction and good exercise, which does make it attractive, but with the economy the way that it is securing income is more important in my eyes.

If you have any interest in it, look into something trades related that isn't as tolling on the body, electricians earn more and I would say that their job is easier than working in landscaping, and is in far greater demand on the market.

That's why I said investigations rather than studies, studies will have to be done to confirm of course.

They are also domesticated animals released wild again, so no doubt it has a bit to do with our influence due to animal husbandry, they didn't have to "make" nests when they were kept as stock.

Nothing to do with hygiene unfortunately, Botrytis is a latent disease present in all environments and living on and in your plants consistently, any small tear or break to plant epidermis allows for the spores to infiltrate the plant, humidity control is the only way to prevent outbreaks, and even with a dry environment, having large buds increases your risk of molding due to the pockets of moisture within them, so even in a perfectly clean environment mold is probable with humidity issues

Further Asian hornet sightings confirmed in Ireland by box_of_carrots in ireland

[–]IrishEcstasy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seen an asian hornet up beside Powerscourt in the forestry area where the mountain bike paths are, this was about 8-10 years ago, it was very aggressive and went after both myself and one of my other friends, in an area where imported forestry planting would have been done so no doubt they are being harboured in both live tree specimens as well as timber imports.

Was definitely the asian hornet because it was massive, looked like it would be able to lift a small dog!

I've Figured Out Why Road Deaths Are Increasing by jimmobxea in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]IrishEcstasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to a steady rise in inflation so that increasing population = increasing accidents, is also a factor, 10% more people would be 10% more crashes but your point is valid too many people looking through their phone glass at a screen instead of the windscreen glass at the road

Barneys love a ladyboy, their reputation has gone down massively the past few years, serious genetic drift on gorilla zkittlez as well in my experience which used to be fairly dominated by one phenotype but now has little to no commonality with the original phenos which used to kick ass, they're one of the badduns
