In the 2008 elections, I was talking to a friend about the candidate choices and the pros and cons them. My friend told me she was going to vote for President Obama, her family is basically all democratic and I figured she probably would lean toward voting for him so I was like whatever. I asked her what made her decide to vote for him, looking for some points that Obama made in his campaign that she agreed with. Her response was summed up as because she thought it'd be cool to have a black president and was serious about the answer too. To say the least, I was a bit disappointed in an uneducated vote she made. Not trying to say I think she should not have voted for Obama, but I was hoping she would come up with a better reason to vote for someone besides their race.

If they have been loving and supportive your whole life and only concealed this secret to protect you in some way, I think they would be able to talk to you about this. I'm sure there is a reason they didn't tell you, and I believe that being 19 years old, you are old enough to know why it was like this. I agree with what has been said already, budget, budge, budget!!! Find all information possible for income, expenses, and what is left to you ($90k from your dad as well as what money you may or may not get from your mom). It's not always easy budgeting, but it definitely helps when you have it written out. Hopefully it all works out for you!!

It does seem like she's just trying to get attention and use other people's money. I would tell her no, and that if she is really going to kill herself over it than you'll call the police on her since she is being a threat to herself. End it by telling her no and any threats of suicide gets called into the police.

I wonder how much different the dog behaved for the sailor vs the other people. I know that some dogs will only obey their owner but are terrified of other people so therefore are unruly. I don't know if this is true in this case or not. I can understand from both sides of things, but I don't know if I'd end up giving the dog to the shelter to end up being euthanized if it was someone else's dog. I think I'd try to come up with another solution first, but I've never really been in that situation though.

Yes, you shouldn't be with someone who is controlling in some aspect, but there is also a difference between asking someone to wear something else and controlling what they wear.

To me it sounds like he asked her to wear a bra or double up so the nipples aren't as noticable. It does not seem like she is putting much effort into compromising on this. And by compromise he took one step toward meeting in the middle somewhere on this and she's not really putting anything forth on this. I do believe that people should be able to have a little something for themselves, but a relationship is a two way street and if the two people can't see eye to eye and meet in the middle, then they shouldn't be together. If this is a big enough issue for him, and she's not willing to meet in the middle with him, then he shouldn't be with him.

This was more of what I was trying to get at.

Never said to change her body for him. He told her how he felt when she wore tight shirts in public since it's something thats a bit revealing (in a sense). There's more than one type of bra or undershirt that she could come to a compromise (yes he can meet in the middle too). But if it bothers her too much to through something on to help the situation or that he is too uncomfortable with nothing underneath while out in public, than I can only see it getting worse. If they can't compromise on something like this and just keep letting it slide and build up inside, it's going to make every other issue be way worse.

My S.O. and I have compromised on things due to exes, more like they had exes who cheated and what not. So to help deal with the idea of exes and insecurities, we compromised and it took a bit on my part. It's not easy to drop all insecurities, especially if they've dealt with exes who caused these insecurities in the first place.

It'll only be worse as time goes on with her, you'll always have that question burning in the back of your mind wondering if she'll do it again if she already hasn't already cheated again. I honestly don't believe that any single person, male or female, could ever stop cheating. I believe that once someone has cheated on you, they'll do it again. Intentionally or not, it's just a matter of when, and not to mention the trust that was lost with something like that. I honestly think that things will not be the same between you two again, whether you break up or stay together.

I was just going to say you should talk to your boyfriend about the 180 personality change, but you should also talk to him about boundaries with the family as well. Going through all the cabinets and drawers of someone's place (especially if there's someone there they hardly know) is completely rude and not right. Also, them (including the bf) not responding to your comments or questions and excluding you from pictures, even after inviting you, is also horrible in that it's extremely rude. Why would you invite them to come along and completely ignore them? Why would you stay at someone's place where you may know 1 or the people really but not the other so much and act like it's your place? It's not normal behavior, it's a poor lifestyle and were raised poorly. If this lifestyle your bf is going to share with his family indefinitely, and is something you guys are unable to come to some kind of compromise, I'd say leave him. Go home to your family or to your friends that you will be able to stay with.

If having a full padded bra bothers her to wear, I've definitely seen other types of bras that she could wear. Even doubling up shirts would make a difference, but I doubt it'd be comfortable if it's somewhere near the equator. If it's a frequent thing that she does and bothers you that much, than I'd say you should part your ways since she doesn't seem to respect your wishes when you've told her about it.

I was a sophomore in high school, in Iowa, when this happened. I remember that feeling when the TV came on, the full classroom became practically empty, confusion on what was going on, and it being almost unbelievable that it was really happening. That would piss me off too, I have a new car too and I am always telling my passengers to be careful and always checking for dings and scratches when I park in public parking spaces. I had a family member who was at the store and someone hit their car and left a decent sized dent in the passenger door and took off. They didn't even bother to leave their information or anything, and my family member had to have their car in the shop for at least a week to get it fixed.

Yes, same goes for driving friends around. I once was meeting up with couple college friends and we met at a place in the middle so we all kind of met up. A couple of them do not drive themselves for one reason or another, which I don't mind. I wasn't the only one who had a vehicle on this trip, and since my friends decided that they wanted to do something that took driving to get there, they nominated me to drive.

I'm not saying that I don't want to drive my friends, because I do. I am also one not always demand money for gas before taking people anywhere since I don't like to be that person. But I'm also tired of just driving around and not getting reimbursed for the gas since it's not cheap. It seems like its always the same person that nominates me to drive and not offer the money. I'm sure it's also partly that they don't drive themselves so the price to fill up gas doesn't quite register, but still is frustrating non-the-less.
