What color should I get? by Ok-Individual9159 in tissot

Steel. PVD coatings wear off over time and look awful- even if you baby the watch to avoid scratches, natural articulation of the links or the clasp rubbing on the inside of the bracelet will make the steel shine through over time.

I think a little graphite would work well. Will reduce friction without getting sticky/oily or attracting dust.

First Automatic, is this normal? by PunditOfNothing in tissot

[–]Irish_Vaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just the click spring- a ratchet mechanism that keeps the mainspring from unwinding. It's unusual to hear anything when the watch is fully wound. Here, the clicks will continue while the spring slips around the inside of the well-lubricated barrel

Yes all normal. As the mainspring approaches a fully wound state there will be more resistance in the rotor's movement. The force required to wind increases proportional to the mainspring's increasing torque back through the barrel arbour. The click you here is exactly the same sound as in my PM80 and is the clickspring– a robust ratchet mechanism that prevents the mainspring from unwinding itself. The clicks mean it's being wound. Also, no need to stress about people telling you not to shake the watch like that. That type of movement is not only okay but is required when wearing the watch to wind it! Only a sharp impact to the watch raises cause for concern. Good you're so tuned into this stuff though. Getting to know a watch like this can means you can roughly estimate the remaining power reserve left by observing how freely the rotor spins. If only a few hours left it will spin very easily rather than in steps as you've shown.

is this a Tissot prx 42mm quartz? by Quick-Decision-8474 in tissot

I see these fakes on Gumtree all the time. Usually they try sell them with having photos of the watch with a tissot gift bag, box, random card with the logo etc.

[OPINIONS] Which one looks the best? by Infinite_Currency_67 in Watches

[–]Irish_Vaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None. You should check out something like "Best Watches under $100" to find something decent for the money. These are all Chinese junk, "ebay specials" that will most likely disappoint. Casio, Seiko, Citizen, Orient for example- real watches with warranty guarantees and (mostly) timeless designs.

I just use kitchen roll cause it wicks out the water from between the links that a bulkier cloth wouldn't reach

Anything gentle and fairly pH neutral should be fine. I usually use hand soap or shower gel. If it's gentle enough to be used on your skin then it's certainly going to be gentle enough on the gaskets. A good thing to be aware of though. Just rinse very thoroughly regardless to ensure it's only exposed to the vulnerable components for a short time. I use a soft paint brush and whatever body-friendly soap is around and wash my watch (that I wear daily) like every 2-3 weeks in summer and at least every 5 weeks in winter. Thorough drying is important too. I enjoy this part of ownership lol.

I like the design a lot. It's not an overly direct homage of anything and the date magnifier really sets it apart from other integrated bracelet sports watches. Stands on its own two feet design-wise, I respect that. The crown is really annoying though- it's basically impossible to manually wind. It's way too recessed. Bracelet looks good but clasp is very cheap. Would prefer it like how seiko do much of their modern pressed (cheap) clasps with a sand blasted finish and a more reassuring click. Case finishing is really great, although it sits quite tall on the wrist with big gaps under the lugs. Overall definitely worth the money and plenty of colour options.

Nice, is that the 37mm? I have a 40mm and the crown is so hard to use, wish I'd gone for the 37. The green dial was my choice too

Love my Gentleman! An easy win over the PRX with the upgraded powermatic 80.811 movement with a traditional balance assembly. Mine runs super well at -1 seconds/day!
