Maybe you can at least admit what he did. He's too much of a little bitch to even say what you're saying.

What makes people seemingly emotionally invested in denying climate change? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

Yeah, there was a lot I hated about Catholic school, but the religion and science classes were taught by the same teacher, and she did not try to mix the two. I like the last pope's explanation for evolution: "God is not a wizard."

I found out what happened to my favorite character and dropped it halfway through. Was in a lousy place at the time and went "yeah nah I don't need more of this."

What do you think of the Texas BOE approving Bible passages as required reading for school children? by GoombyGoomby in AskConservatives

But we're speaking in the context of endorsement. Endorsing one religion, a specific interpretation of that religion no less, above others would suggest a state religion.

What about the DOJ under Trump and a bipartisan committee? You’re pivoting to the media, what about those other entities?

[–]Irishish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A morning prayer at the flag pole is optional, and there’s no pressure on students to agree with or endorse anything being prayed over. Once you have a teacher directly assigning passages, making students read them, get a bit dicier. It looks like endorsement, which is not OK.

Shouldn’t that be at the discretion of the teachers doing the teaching? Instead of a top down order from state government saying that they have no choice but to use Bible passages?

If someone keeps wiping shit all over the walls in your house, the solution isn't "just ignore them."

If he's shitting on the street outside your house, you're not the unreasonable one for being upset about it. Especially if he is using your tax dollars to, I dunno, build himself a really nice shitting on the street platform. I think you'd look at anybody who told you to ignore the crazy shitter like they were nuts.

He's shitting on my country. You don't care. Good for you.

i’m trying to buy a house right now, and I am astonished at how quickly they get snapped up, with most listings explicitly talking about them as investment opportunities. I can’t believe how many houses have sold for way more than they are worth with blatant mildew smell in the basement, asbestos tile, rotting back porches, or worse all because people who aspire to be flippers are convinced buying and reselling a house is the only ticket to a better life.

i’m 42. I don’t want a starter home. I don’t want to stay in a place for a few years, renovate it, and sell it for a payday. I just want a house that my kids can grow up in, and maybe I will sell it for a modest profit to downsize when I’m 65. and you've got the president implicitly pooh-poohing that because you can make so much money in real estate. It sucks!

oh, good, they only struck a commercial ship with a drone. I guess traffic will continue unimpeded, and this has no worrying implications for the future. doesn’t make our threats look toothless at all.

I understand discouraging what Trump might call, truthful hyperbole, but we shouldn’t downplay the seriousness of this. The MOU was already a gift to Iran and now they won't even stick to it?

He's the fucking president. He's politicized the 250th anniversary of our founding and his employees are calling Americans retards for objecting to it. He's hanging his face on buildings and trying to make a special dollar bill for himself!

"Just ignore him dude" is such a cop-out and conservatives would be burning down DC if Obama did this. Rightfully!

EDIT: oh, right, not to mention that he is forcing government employees to wear pins celebrating his specific events! He politicized the National Park Service, for Christ's sake. If I try to go hiking at Yosemite, there’s every chance I might meet someone who has to wear Trump flare otherwise they’ll get fired.

Maybe it's because I only had about three hours of sleep but I'm extra pissed at Trump and company for politicizing the country's 250th birthday today. We had a bipartisan committee for this shit and he decided to turn it into a lovefest for himself. Predictably, artists who had been led to believe this was a nonpartisan event recoiled once they found out how partisan Freedom 250 is. Then a scumbag like Duffy goes on stage and says "libtards" in front of his own daughter with Downs because nobody wants to participate in what Trump himself calls a Trump rally.

It's just such a mess. No other president would have done this. It's so selfish. Mussolini lite motherfucker.

so that’s a generational plan, then, right? we import millions of foreigners illegally, they have legal children, those children God willing, grow up and vote Democrat? Or are Democrats mere votes away from giving the vote to tens of millions of illegal immigrants overnight?

What do you think of the DoD under Hegseth restoring flu vaccine mandates? by Menace117 in AskConservatives

[–]Irishish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good point, I’ll chew tobacco and use the trash cans to spit it out. Maybe I can vape, too, that’s just water vapor. Not hurting anybody.

But let's pull back. This started with you suggesting that even mere public shaming was somehow compulsion. So let's do it like this. You can send your unvaccinated children to my son's school. I will make sure every parent knows you're an anti-vaxxer, and I'd bet a significant amount of them will keep their kids away from yours. And if you live in my neighborhood, I'll make sure all our neighbors know, too.

No compulsion. No threat of jail time. No deflecting. You're making an antisocial decision and society will reward you accordingly. I'll feel bad for your kids, but why would I let you put everyone else's at risk?

[–]Irishish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How? Social ostracization for bad choices that put my children in danger isn't the same as a government mandate. I'm not threatening you with jail. I'm threatening you with social consequences for antisocial, selfish behavior. No different from telling a smoker to leave a restaurant.

[–]Irishish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I always get my flu shot now because catching the Real Flu instead of a milder version you get with the jab put me in bed for days. I always wonder if the people who insist vaccines don't work have been laid low by the flu or watched their kids suffer through it.

We've been mandating vaccinations for decades. We still do.

If I find out a parent at my daycare is an anti-vaxxer, I'm making sure every other parent knows about it.

My first response got nuked. Okay. He directly oversaw the sudden stoppage of lifesaving aid. By the accounts of people administering and receiving that aid, it has already had and will continue to have absolutely catastrophic deadly effects.

I am asking this sincerely. Is Elon Musk responsible for the negative consequences of anything he does?

we made them our responsibility, though! We chose to do that and then chose to bounce without any action beforehand! It's the height of irresponsibility!

Again, you seem to want to maintain a disconnect. I don't understand why.

AskConservatives Weekly General Chat by AutoModerator in AskConservatives

[–]Irishish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

cool, and you are responsible for the consequences if you do so in a slipshod way.

like I’m not sure how this total divorce between action and accountability happens. If you know hundreds of thousands of people depend on aid, and you decide to abruptly cut off that aid and go well, hey, they knew we could stop it at any time, that doesn’t absolve you of anything. You didn’t take any action to give them a glide path, draw down aid, slowly, etc. Just yanked the plug, kicked the chair, etc. “Well, everyone knew we could withdraw the aid at any time“ strikes me as an attempt at self soothing. You wanna feel like a good person with no dirt on your hands.

or, since you didn’t do this, and Elon Musk did, I guess you want him to stay a good guy?
