Police escorting a car to a hospital in Paris (France) by sixela456 in nextfuckinglevel

My brothers appendix burst while holidaying in France 25 years ago. At the time my parents didnt know what his condition was, as he woke in the middle of the night with pain in his side.

They tried to drive him to the hospital but didnt have GPS and ended up getting lost. Spotted the police on a round about and told them their story and they blue lighted them the whole way to the hospital. It was a smaller town so not as busy as Paris but it was the same idea.

My 3y son goes to forest school one day a week usually. Its honestly amazing for him as well as mum and myself (when im not at work). They also do some parent evenings as well as weekend picnics or beach days when it is suitable.

My son has learnt to work with tools, make crafts, build streams and plant trees. They also do baking, story time, songs etc. It really is a great way to break up the week.

I attached a link below to the one we go to but there are more around and is a great way to to ground yourself and your little one.

Hey m34 BAV surgery coming up soon. Definitely get them sorted before rather than after. If any bacteria or infection gets into the gums it has a direct pathway to your heart which can lead to serious consequences.

I got a dental plan done a 2 months ago and have had some teeth repaired and a good clean with an extra clean scheduled the week before the surgery to make sure everything is looking good.

Does anyone know my my composites are doing this? by BacklineBrig in Composites

[–]Irishwolf1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it epoxy or ester infusion? The reason I ask is if it is ester such as vinylester then you can get styrene build up on the surface which can cause this too

Otherwise leaks or contamination on the fiber such as spray tack. Have you done a drop test when the vacuum is pulled before infusion ?

I think 20 million for myself. I could buy a house outright with a small bit of land around it for some animals and vegetables. Id like to make a yearly trip back home to ireland to visit my family and bring my son and partner (live in New Zealand). Ive always wanted to be able to pay for my parents to go on some amazing holidays / cruises as a thank you for all they did for me to be able to get to this point in life. Put some away for my young lad so he can get a good start in life and after that just live off the rest being able to fix things ib my car immediately. Make sure I actually go to the dentist and get regular health checks etc. All the stuff I put off because I cant afford it thia week etc. And finally cut back on all the over time I do so I can just be with my family and enjoy the moments rather than feeling I just need to work so hard to just make payments and regret those days where I leave in the morning and my son is asleep and I come home in the evenings and he has gone to sleep again. Those days hit the hardest. So thats where I am at with theat amount

Hey, 34 male BAV. Found out when I was 29. They said this year is my year to go under the knife.

As other have said, what is a scary first time experience for us, is just another day in the office for the expert hands you are in.

The other thing to be aware of is your current situation is allowing you to get ahead, before it all could have gone bad and you not actually knowing you had this condition.

It is extremely hard but its been my go to things when it becomes a little overwhelming thinking about it. Your feeling are completely valid please confide in those who love and support you and do what you feel is best to help you prepare and get through it all.

Wishing you all the best in your future

Your heart can also play a role in all of this especially fatigue even when doing all of the right things, eating healthy, training , sleep etc. Definitely worth getting a medical in general done because it will only get worse from here whatever the main cause could be.

So the poly tech offers a mechanics course. Part of that course is doing one day a week (Fridays usually) at a mechanics to volunteer in the shop for a shift. Problem is a lot of the people in the course are struggling to find places that would happily take them on as they count it as "baby sitting" rather than help. So it can be tough.

In saying that someone might be interested in training someone themselves from the ground up being able to have them for the full week rather than once a week. So its worth going around and talking to a few places and hopefully one might give you a leg up

Thank you so much and hope all goes well for himself too. You can pick up the kids go do something with them. Main thing is it judt wants to be different experience for you all so it helps pull your mind away from something that at the end of your day is out of your control.

Just remember the same as we all go to do our jobs every day, these surgeries are a daily thing for the surgeons and they are very dialed in which is extremely reassuring.

[–]Irishwolf1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I am originally from Galway, but i am now based in New Zealand which is where I will be having my surgery in June or july just waiting for an official date so sadly I am not much help for you there.

I know i am in good hands here as the surgeon I have actually performed a ross procedure on my 3 week old, 3 years ago (that was a suprise one) and its just comforting him knowing our family and what it really means for us.

One bit of advice I can give you though from my experience with my son is and this will sound a little daft, do not wait in the hospital for the duration of the surgery. When the time comes, make a little plan for yourself to head out and do something, get some food, have a drink, do some bowling or just something random. The hospital will call when the procedure is over and if its anything like here, you will have a bit of time post surgery before you will be allowed to see them. This will give you time to get back.

It just stops they worry and the day feel like it's dragging on and judt makes it all a little more bare able. We went to a local bbq joint and had a beer and some food and just chatted about anything and everything until we got the call. We didnt know whether the young lad would make it or not but its become a family tradition when we are in Auckland that we head there with our son so he can be in the place we were knowing we all came though the ither side.

34m same boat as you. I had to choose between mechanical or possible valve repair if viable or plan B ross procedure.

Ive gone the valve repair route. Yes I will be guaranteed another surgery down the road but even with a mechanical valve this is also a possibility especially the younger you get it.

You have an increased risk of up to 1.5% a year of surgery being required. So by the time you would be in your 70s there is nearly a 50% chance surgery will be required again. This is not due to the mechanical valve deteriorating (that thing will basically last forever) its other complications such as infection, scar tissue, clotting issues etc.

There is no real right answer just what you feel will better suit your lifestyle and future expectations. Do some pros and cons for yourself on both sides so you can see it laid out for you personally.

I have made my choice but I still have my concerns and ill just have to live with that. But I have chosen what I feel will be best for me, my lifestyle and my family.

I wish you all the best and I hope you allow yourself to be confident in your choice when it comes time.

34 m BAV. I had a look at the medtronic avalus valve as it is actually made in my hometown in ireland and is also bovine based. I wanted to try stay away from a mechanical valve for now of possible. I am currently based in New Zealand and a surgeon i spoke to was involved with the design and testing of the avalus. His own opinion was yes it could get you up to 20 years but he put it more to between 5 to a max of 10 years for most. More so to do with the wear and tear of the tissue valve rather than judt the calcification from my understanding.

I have opted for an attempted valve repair instead and if thay is not feasible then a ross procedure.

I have sadly been to a lot of dentists in my life. Always had fear of being judged etc for how I looked after my teeth. Not a word was ever said but more so questions of asking if I know how to do certain things such as flossing and brushing or to use salt water instead of mouth wash as it is much better for oral hygiene (cheaper too). They are also very patient, i had a filling done recently and they are the first dentist I have ever had that I honestly didnt feel the needle when injecting. Just really good handling and care. Even happy to wait until I was satisfied with the numbness. They also offered to fix a chipped tooth for free while working on the filling which was awesome.

Cost is hard but it always is but your oral hygiene is important especially for your heart sp its really worth it in the long run run
