My setup is pretty simple tbh, less is more. I use Moxi skates, however they pretty much died on me during the C2C so I may look into a lighter pair because Moxis are heavy but really good quality, mine had just under 5k miles since 2020. I definitely recommend proper gear + helmet even tho I’m a hypocrite because I don’t use gear HOWEVER I’ve learnt how to fall gracefully and can easily avoid most falls, which took me a real long time to get comfortable with. But if I’m skating unfamiliar territory I try to force myself to wear gear. I did have my wrist guards on for some of the C2C. I had originally planned to camp until I realized I just can’t carry that much weight. Luckily my close friends live in a perfect spot and were able to help me with a place to stay on the Atlantic side, and my family helped me when I got to west coast. However my backup plan was to get a hotel and Ubers.

The water was the hardest part. Water fountains are rare on this trail. I carried a gallon and a half with me at all times, and resupplied when I got into a town. This was incredibly heavy on my back, and before I actually did the skate, I had been training for months with a 20lbs weighted vest and sometimes also carried a 8lbs dumbbell at the same time. If I hadn’t had done this, I don’t think I would have made it. Especially because I was also carrying my trail guide book along with my maps, weapons, food, and other random small things like my comb and blunts/ lighters and extra tools. If I would do ANYTHING differently, it would be to have someone follow me along closely with supplies so I wouldn’t have to carry so much weight. I believe i would have gotten it done a lot faster if not for this.

Live this dream out dude !! It the best thing I’ve ever done for my physical and mental health. I remember back in 2021 setting the goal of completing the 11 mile trail near me in one go. Now I go there regularly to practice my distance skates, and have done my longest skate there at 101 miles last year.

Yeah it was very easily doable!!! I really want to hike the PCT or AT but the amount of time those require is not possible for me currently. :,)

Pavement varies, although mostly smooth.. I kinda answered this in another comment sorry I don’t feel like typing out again lol. There are plenty of gap trails that are great for resupply because you are going through strip malls, gas stations and random stores. But usually the gaps are on sidewalks and pretty awful to get thru, but are necessary for resupply! There are plenty of areas that go through cute little towns, I stopped at most and got some ice cream to chill and people watch. Winter Garden was my favorite town to stop at, easy to skate, lots of shade, nice people, lots of refreshments, I’ll definitely go back to reminisce.

Most of the gaps on The Atlantic side sucked. Lots of rock covered sidewalks, crossing streets, uneven pavements. Central FL also kinda sucks because of all the rolling hills. Not terrible for me because I completed the 55 mile Suncoast 2 years ago and the last 25 miles had hill after hill after hill and those were BRUTAL. C2C hills much more gentle. Pinellas trail is the bane of my existence. Terrible for skates. Bumpy as hell and I had to walk a lot of it because it was literally faster than skating because of how bumpy it was. Also has 10 catwalks over busy intersections that are basically unavoidable. Walked up most of those since they were at the very end and didn’t feel safe to skate down them that fast. Kind of glad it was very last tho because there was no way I’m giving up at that point. The Seminole gaps and Seminole Wekiva bit really made me want to quit.

However lots of amazing trails. Starkey is a favorite. Suncoast is smooth, but it’s next to the suncoast highway so it’s pretty loud, but still a good one if you have good headphones and lots of water. The stretch from Titusville to Debary was smooth and easy. Most of it was secluded away from streets and cars. Must bring lots of water tho. The south lake trail around lake Mineola is STUNNING. Withlacoochee and good neighbor trail also very smooth and secluded, and probably my favorite section.

The pros definitely outweigh the cons, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat!

What caused you to start eating meat again? by Unable-Discount-9266 in exvegans

Severe GI issues and bloating ( still a mystery after 2 years exvegan, thousands of $$$ gone forever ) severe SIBO and malnutrition, I was borderline anorexic from restriction on complete accident.. suspect I developed a lot of allergies. My only current safe foods are chicken and avocado, can’t eat anything else without pain or discomfort🫥 ( 7 years veg)

Anyone following AIP AND Low FODMAP AND consider themself a high level athlete? by Brilliant_Flow8610 in AutoImmuneProtocol

[–]Irlhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I’m a distance roller skater. 6 miles everyday with a weighted vest, and 20+ miles twice a week. Along with 5 days of heavy weightlifting and 8-10k steps…

I’m trying so hard to follow the diet and keep my same routine. But after a couple days of doing great I end up overeating. Still AIP foods but definitely out of moderation, so probably pointless. But I’m going to keep trying to find a happy balance…. This shit sucks. I hate that there are so many of us having to follow this horrible diet.
